Hoa Quynh opened up near us in Febuary 2006. We only tried it recently, but wish we'd gone there sooner. It's owned by a former restaurant manager of the Mangostin Asia, and does both Thai and Vietnamese dishes.
Quality of the Thai dishes is definitely comparable to the Mangostin, but the price is much more reasonable. We haven't tried the Viet dishes yet. They also do take-aways.

Hey Thanks alot "Guy" for letting us know about this restaurant. At first i was not sure if we would take the "RISK" as i am really afraid of dining in a typical GERMAN ASIA style of restaurant for celebrating our anniversary . The German owner has a vietnamese wife and has a team of chef from Thailand, Vietnam and also Laos. So he knows what he is doing ;) Not that kind of restaurant that uses alot of MSG to enhance their taste. Very impressive appetiser both for presentation and taste. As for main course i ordered a duck with fried rice and my partner ordered a Thai noodles. Both were nice and same as "Guy"...i wish i had visited them earlier :( This restaurant is great for celebrating special occasion or just dining with your love ones. I will definitely try their afternoon BUFFET very soon!!!! ;)
Posted by: Andy101 at 9:43 pm on 6.Jun.2006Haven't been to this restaurant myself but got told by a friend who works not far away from the restaurant and have been going there at least once a week for lunch that they offer tasty and very reasonable price asian dishes (esp. lunch menu) Another (in)relevant info: The owner is a daughter of an owner of Van Hoi food stand in Schrannenhalle, which also serves tasty asian dishes (esp. Thai) and reasonable price (IMO) for such a central location.

Posted by: "Guy" at 10:58 am on 7.Jul.2006I read this thread and decided to try it out. This is one of the best Asian restaurants I have ever been to. The food is a mixture of Vietnamese and Thai dishes. I had a Vietnamese starter and a Thai main dish. Both were delicious, the prices fair. Truly worth visiting!

Posted by: "lou" at 3:47 pm on 20.Jul.2006drat--wish I'd seen these reviews before--this restaurant is directly across the street from my office and I've been meaning to try it for lunch. But I am now on maternity leave. Let's hope it stays around for a while!
Posted by: "Anonymous" at 7:54 pm on 10.Oct.2006Why do Vietnamese restaurants always have to sell themselves as Thai-Vietnamese. It is sort of like French-German or German-Italian.
Posted by: "Anonymous" at 5:54 pm on 26.Jan.2007A few weeks ago, and in response to a chance comment made by us, they have introduced a non-smoking area. Of course, in such a small place you're still going to know once someone starts smoking, but at least now it's unlikely that someone will light up at the table next to you just as you get your meal.
