We'd heard good reviews from the opening of Haveli. So we treked out there last night to give it a try. The trouble is, it's kinda remote. Located in Obermenzing on the far side of the Nymphenburger Schloss. A real mission to get to. And unfortunately the restaurant doesn't quite justify the effort. Food was good. Not great, but perfectly adequate. Service was functional. We weren't given any free popadoms at the start, which was unusual. Most other Indian restaurants in Munich do give popadoms. I probably won't bother again. But if you live in the area it might be handy to know.

I had the Vindaloo, which was quite tasty and spicy but let down by the dryness of the meat. All in all, I'd say the place is better than Tamarind (goes without saying, really) but not at all on par with New Delhi or Sitar. Probably not good enough to justify the trek out to Obermenzing (4 stops past HBF and a 20 minute walk) on a regular basis, but I'd certainly go there again if I lived in the area or was around there for other reasons.

Tandoori CHicken Masala was OK. The meat was ok as it must have been marinated and Tandoori'ed for a while before being chucked in the sauce. I reckon that the good restaurants leave the chicken in a marinade before chucking them in whatever sauce. Then it won't be so dry. Better-looking restaurant than most, but let down by some not-so-friendly service (guy with turban was ok). Prices were fairly normal. Food not as good as Sitar or New Delhi.

I have to say "nonsense" to all above comments! Perhaps at the beginning there was another cook or something. But try it now. We were so often there and the food was great. The meat was so marinated and sauce was so good that I cannot understand what you guys have eaten!! (more commentary here in German was deleted by admin)

I think the restaurant has changed the owner / cook. The last two times I have been I was rather disappointed. I will give them one more chance before I move on.
