Harpers and Queens - Sendlingerstr. 46, 80331 Munich, Germany
A winter type of place, H&Q is owned by the people behind P1 and it shows from the clientele, who are footballers and minor local celebs, but luckily the door policy is a little more relaxed - dress well and you'll be fine.

It's on the first floor and is a very cosy bar/restaurant, with lots of subdued lighting and reflected warmth from the bar top and whisky bottles.
The beautiful crowd should obviously be mentioned, but I guess we don't need to say it much more, as you should understand by now that Munich is full of beautiful places with beautiful men and women. Harpers is one of them. It's a proper bar and good fun.
Depending on the type of night you want they have three mini-environments - dinner tables, leather sofas and the bar. When it's busy you have no chance of switching between the three seating modes; in fact you can barely reach out for your drink at the bar. Recommended for the mid-week.

We tried to get into H&Q one Friday evening at 11p.m. At the door, we were asked 'Reservierung?'. We were thinking, why do we need a reservation in a bar? Obviously their door policies are not so relax afterall. I would recommend reservation for anyone who wants to go there late on weekends. I would try to go there again another time. I hate traditional German pubs.

Posted by: "Timmy Tightwad" at 12:49 am on 27.Aug.2004Cool place, but the service is absolutely ridiculous, the barstaff hang around chatting with each other, posing and chatting up the pretty girls (or guys) and you would have to strip naked and dance on a table to get their attention. Just bear this in mind, when you have a strong need for a beer!
Posted by: "Anonymous" at 1:39 pm on 23.Feb.2005Went there last weekend and found the place to be a bit lame. Nice room though, very big, high ceilings, and looked like a good pick-up place once everyone got a few drinks into them. When we were there everyone was just standing around, nonchalantly observing one another and pretending not to be. Good place to meet up with a large group. Crowd was mostly early 20's with a few odd 30 and 40 somethings mixed in. I guess we were there a bit early, though, which might explain why the service was pretty good. Left after one drink, served by the 20 year old bartender with a stylish mullet.
