Grissini - Munich

Grissini is a fairly small Italian restaurant (capacity for ~60 guests) about 10 minutes walk North of Münchener Freiheit. Walk up Ungerestrasse or take the U-Bahn to Dietlindenstrasse. It's quite a popular restaurant and on peak nights you'd be highly recommended to reserve in advance. Personally I can't explain why it's so popular.

Grissini - Munich

I've been twice and on both occasions the service (all Italian waiters) was "functional". That is to say, fairly swift, but they hardly make you feel welcome. Inside there is not much to look at. The decor has a rustic feel to it - the walls are painted such that they appear yellowed with age (when actually they're brand new). The food is OK, but nothing exquisite. I had a spaghetti bolognese and it was nothing different to what I could whip up at home in 15 minutes. Prices are reasonable though. You're talking around €8 for a pizza or bowl of spaghetti.

All in all, not at all bad. If you go here for dinner you'll have a good evening. But it won't be one which will stand out in your memory for the rest of your life and nor will you be in any big hurry to go back.

Incidently, for anyone who isn't up on their Italian, the word "Grissini" is the name of those little bread sticks - the ones which are about finger-sized in diameter and about 20cm long. Needless to say you are provided with a bowl of Grissini when you first arrive at this restaurant.

A nice Italian with moderate pricing. Excellent fish (grilled Monkfish!) - reservations recommended.

One of the best italian restaurant in Munich, in my opinion. Honestly prepared food. A little bit expensive (but in line with other italian restaurants) Nice and lively atmosphere.
