above average establishment. decent food, very pleasant ambience. tranquil music in background. good logistics - next door to tram stop. easy to find, isartor, almost next door to the p1zza hut there. caters for groups... no matter how rowdy. very tolerant. Goa is one of the better joints in munich for vindaloo. bit pricy if you have 8 helles to wash the vindaloo down.
Posted by: "Ray Lennox" at 12:29 pm on 9.Feb.2004I like GOA. The food, service and prices are good. I like Sitar better, but I'd go back to GOA too.
Posted by: Malinee at 4:04 pm on 26.Mar.2004Goa is open Saturdays in the evening. Excellent food -- try Thali dish number 61!
Posted by: pink jello at 1:32 am on 14.Nov.2004Goa is the dogs. Worth a try. Dont know anyone who's eaten then and slated it. Suitably priced.
Posted by: "alan" at 12:50 pm on 19.Nov.2004GOA is awesome. One of my favorite Indian restaurants in Munich.
Posted by: "xargon" at 1:45 pm on 19.Nov.2004Satisfactory, much better than most, still doesn't compare with Neu Delhi or Rama: Beers are good (I had Dunkle Weisse), Menus are not very clear....it does not say that the price of a meal includes Basmati, but prices are reasonable. E1.90 for Popadoms is heavy, but our party of 10 (which was accomodated at very short notice) was given several baskets of popadoms and sauces after ordering our meals. Meal was good . No 62 Goa Thali recommended Onion Bhajis were really Onion Rings, not the best but not the worst I've had. Complimentary drinks at the end. Bill payment was onerous and long winded I would go back, I rate it no.3 in Munich
Posted by: "peter" at 9:09 am on 26.Jan.2005Dhal soup was tasty but very watery. Garlic chicken described as "hot" wasn't very spicy hot (nor was it temperature hot) and could have been greatly improved with slices of fried garlic visible in it. Meat was actually cooked with the sauce (a rarity in Munich Indian restaurants) and done well. Beers were 2.60 Euros for Paulaner Helles which was good. Complimentary papadum per person with sauces appreciated. Complimentary drink at the end also appreciated. Separate payments at end were handled interminally slowly. This place meets my minimum expectations but does not greatly exceed them. I would rate the place as acceptable to good. Good enough to go back there once or twice a year but I much prefer the two Ramas (the one in Ismaning being by far the better of the two) and the Neue Delhi.
Posted by: "Roland" at 9:46 am on 26.Jan.2005Had the Murgh Nilgiri from the lunch menu yesterday. Despite being one of the only items marked "scharf", it was incredibly mild. The dhal soup as starter was quite good, and not at all watery as mentioned in the previous review. Service was prompt and friendly. I would go back again.
Posted by: "Curry Monsta" at 9:13 am on 18.May.2005Back again for the lunch menu. This time the Chicken Tikka, which was delicious. Only (minor) complaint was that they didn't serve a small pot of sauce on the side, like other restaurants do.
Posted by: "Curry Monsta" at 1:53 pm on 16.Jun.2005Superb !! Good service, excellent food and the schnapps was magic !! Definitely going back !!
Posted by: "njdq" at 11:03 pm on 25.Sep.2005Just the best!!! Parking is quite impossible, though. Public transportation is fine: 1 minute from Tram 17,18 2 minutes S-Bahn Isartor 10 minutes U3-6 Marienplatz or U4-5 Lehel

Posted by: "Paul" at 3:47 pm on 4.Jan.2006Still a regular for lunch at Goa, although not as regular as previously. The food is great but I'm sick of stinking of curry for the rest of the day after being there. This place is the only indian restaurant I've been in where the smell of the food permeates through the entire restaurant and sticks to the clothing of the customers. Not just for an hour after, but for days. It probably doesn't help that the garderobe is right next to the kitchen, which is open onto the restaurant.
Posted by: "Curry Monsta" at 12:09 pm on 4.Apr.2006We are very appreciate from all the comments because man can learn from others also. We are going to solve the problem of air ventilation in our restaurant and we promise you that you will not face problem regarding ventilation in future. We are very thankful to all persons who post his comments in this website and also thankful to Toytown group who have such a huge collection of all restaurants database.
Posted by: "Restaurant GOA" at 6:49 pm on 2.Jul.2006This is a great restaurant. Friendly staff and YUMMY food. Highly recommended!
Posted by: "Feebee" at 12:10 pm on 31.Jul.2006About the best curry Ive had in Munich, rivalled only by Natraj in my not so humble opinion.
Posted by: "regular" at 10:03 pm on 29.Nov.2006This has got to be the next Maharani! I mean, I'm quite fussy about the food at an Indian, and this passed the CTM test "and" the friendly test. They also spent time asking for our comments and suggestions. This place has a big future!
Posted by: "ian" at 8:43 pm on 10.Feb.2007Finally made it here to Goa, wow! Great food, some different than usual things on the menu, and different than usual spices. Great service and the mango cream at the end of the meal was a great way to end a dining delight.
Posted by: Carm at 10:18 pm on 25.Apr.2007When I read the title of the post I had a huge smile on my face, thinking that GOA was the state as opposed to the eating joint :) Since it is so highly recommended I must really try it with some friends soon... having eaten in Goa (yes the one with sunny beaches) I look forward to seeing if it lives up to its name. More here in time. Cheers
Posted by: geminispark at 3:11 pm on 26.Apr.2007I've been back to Goa a couple of times recently, and they seem to have sorted out their ventilation. The food smell is still there, but it's nowhere near as strong as it used to be. And the curries are still excellent. Better than at their sister restaurant Garam Masala, I'd say.
Posted by: "Curry Monsta" at 2:46 pm on 14.May.2007Been to Goa yesterday for the third time. All three times food was above average, something very rare about Munich Indian restaurants. Add to that the very friendly service. I will go again :)
Posted by: RakishRam at 8:14 pm on 28.Aug.2007i am sorry but i would strictly not recommend this restaurant to anyone who impulsively decides to have a nice sunday lunch.we had been there this sunday and found the restaurant jam packed.the waiter showed just the seat for 2 which was near the door yet we accepted it.later on,another waiter ordered us to laeve the table in favour of a larger group which was still arriving.we could have very well patiently waited for tables to become free but this was just the height of inhospitability.
Posted by: vrushali55 at 11:25 am on 13.Nov.2007Extremely good! A very pleasant surprise...first time I had Indian food since moving to Munich. Excellent service and extremely friendly staff. Beautifully presented tasty and copious dishes! A nice night out with friends including an Indian colleague.
Posted by: "Lorna" at 3:15 pm on 21.Nov.2007The food here is yummy, the panner and the dahl were great, the prawn biriyani nice but far too expensive! I would say that it's probs best not to have starters..just have more for the mains.
Posted by: "dulfer" at 6:56 pm on 7.Dec.2007This place rocks! I'm going back again tonight for a mutton biryani. Its fantastic
Posted by: "Barry Jahny" at 5:19 pm on 3.Jan.2008Great restaurant ! We have returned many times and brought friends. The food is fantastic (try the Chicken Vindaloo and the Tandoori menus. Appetizers include Naan (or garlic Naan), Prappad, veggie dumplings. Also, the Chicken Korma on the lunch menu. The food is sufficiently spicy (my girlfriend, who is Thai, and I both love spicy food) but you can ask for some additional chili. The service is fantastic and transportation is great - if you are using the S-Bahn (Isartor) or the tram. Only issue - the place is small, so on weekends you MUST have a reservation.
Posted by: "Doug" at 3:17 pm on 16.Feb.2008I went here in December for my birthday with a female friend, and it was a very romantic atmosphere. Warm, dark, and quiet, they serve excellent authentic food (I am from Canada and know what good Indian food tastes like). But you do pay for the quality. Service is also good, but the place is very small, about 20(?) seats available in the entire place.
Posted by: arch at 9:05 pm on 16.Feb.2008I don´t want to mock on it, but I´ve been told by numerous people that this is a good place, so been there a couple of times. I asked for very spicy food every time and the result was mild spicy. I asked for extra spicy sauce and recieved some poppadam sauce. The Palak Kofta - Spinach dumplings - was all green, but didn´t taste much of spinach. The service may be sympatic and you will recieve lots of freebies if you pull a big group here, but that doesn´t change the taste.
Posted by: siskebap at 11:14 am on 10.Jun.2008Went for my b-day last week.Food great as usual. My favorite indian in Munich.Staff really friendly and efficient, and you always get lots of freebies....Schnapps etc.Definitely will be going back SOON !!
Posted by: Maid marion at 5:07 pm on 12.Jun.2008The only thing good about this place are the friendly waiters. Had heard some good comments about this place before I went but its obvious that the people commenting had forgotten their last experience of a truly good Indian meal!
Posted by: bidishac at 10:14 pm on 1.Sep.2008Four of us went there for lunch today and had the lunchtime special - soup or salad and a main dish. One of us asked for naan instead of either side dish, there was no problem and we even received another complimentary helping of plain naan. Service was quick in bringing the food, pointing out which dish was which and inquiring if everything was ok (I almost felt as if I were in the US). I had a thali with lamb, rice, vegetables and raita; the vegetarian curry was packed with spice and flavors and will be my main next time around. The food was fresh, hot and delicious, well seasoned and spicy without numbing your gums. There was enough rice to feed an Indian village, as opposed to some curry houses where you have to request more. Negative aspects: The bowl of tomato soup was only half full; the tablecloth had spots on it; there were a few kernels of rice from our predecessors still lying on the table; most of all, it took us almost ten minutes to catch the waiter's eye to pay up. I suppose one cannot expect perfect service in a packed restaurant but will be watching the evening service as well next time I go there. All in all, I can recommend Goa for a quicky lunch with friends, price for the lunch special with one drink app. € 10. Reservation seriously recommended!
Posted by: sarabyrd at 2:41 pm on 2.Dec.2008Friendly and attentive staff, reasonably priced, ambience is typically Indian: soft, warm and even verging on being stuffy. As for the food, it’s okay. Not the best you’ll have, but pretty good in comparison to Munich’s other Indian offerings. Also a reservation is recommended, as it’s not the biggest place, but it is busy. Overall: (relatively) above average - 3/5.
Posted by: "rougmind" at 2:16 pm on 30.Dec.2008sad to say, my last 2 visits to Goa were sub par compared to their normal excellence.
Posted by: zeeklafreek at 6:53 pm on 20.Mar.2009Chicken masala is real "state of art". Very-very positive feedback :)
Posted by: alex_z at 8:23 am on 5.May.2009We were a group of 10 people went to GOA yesterday.Service is good, but I feel the place is small..We ordered Chicken curry,Kadai Paneer and Malai Kofta.I felt that Kofta curryw went well with Naan but with rice it was too sweet. All in all ,good ratings for food ,ambience.....
Posted by: "california" at 3:01 pm on 29.Aug.2009You feel the place is "small"? you ought to try New York City sometime, where the 44 seats Goa has are crammed into a room about the size of Goa's toilets. I am not exaggerating. This is the most expensive city in Germany and Goa is located in one of the most expensive areas -- their rent is around €40/m². They have the best Indian food in town and you're complaining because it's "small". Guess you're not a big Pearl Street fan either.
Posted by: BadDoggie at 11:15 pm on 29.Aug.2009I too feel the place is small. As do a number of other posters who were just squeezed in or recommended to make a reservation. The food is yummy though and definitely comes recommended. I will try to appreciate that I am not in New York though the next time I am there. I hadn't realised its relevance. But I suppose everything is relevant ;)
