Posted by: "Anonymous" at 1:31 pm on 3.May.2006I've eaten lunch at Garam Masala a couple of times since it opened. Apparently the cook from Goa is now at Garam Masala, but will be replaced by a new guy arriving from India in a few weeks. So for now the food is as good as at Goa (i.e. very good) but be aware that the quality might change when the new guy arrives (as observed in New Delhi and Tandoori some time ago). Service is very prompt and friendly. I will definitely go back there again.
Posted by: "Frank Cauldhame" at 5:28 pm on 9.May.2006I've been going for lunch at Garam Masala 2 or 3 times a month and I'm happy to say that the quality of the food is still as good as it was back in April/May when they first opened. The lunch menus really are great value for money. Between 6 and 8 euros for a soup and main dish, and often free Naan bread aswell. They also seem to have a much wider choice of dishes available on the lunch menu compared to other indian restaurants. They rotate about 3 different menus through the week, but if something isn't on the menu when you visit they'll usually make it for you. One downside of this restaurant is that the tables set up in booths and cannot be re-arranged to accommodate groups larger than around 6 people.
Posted by: "Frank Cauldhame" at 4:10 pm on 20.Sep.2006I went to this place last night, and the food was great...really taste like home cooking! defo thumbs up for anyone craving real indian food.

Posted by: "Paul" at 9:26 am on 6.Nov.2006I went there last night for the first time and I agree with the posts above, the food was very good. I am not sure of the connection with "Goa" made in the first post but the menu is practically the same and up to the same excellent standard. I shall definitely be going there again.
Posted by: "Paul" at 11:38 am on 10.Nov.2006Both restaurants are owned by the same person. He told me himself. The restaurant is getting very popular. I was in for lunch last week and every table was full. I've also been for dinner a couple of times recently and the food is even better than at lunchtime. I had the Garlic Chicken on one occasion, and then the Chicken Bhunna on another. Both amazing.
Posted by: "Frank Cauldhame" at 4:17 pm on 10.Nov.2006I love this place, very good food.
Posted by: "Anonymous" at 7:12 pm on 11.Jan.2007I had the Chicken Vindaloo last week and asked for it "Indian Hot". Probably one of the hottest Vindaloos I've had in Munich. And not just because they added some chopped chilis - it was proper spicy. It hurt on the way in and it hurt even more on the way out. Ring of Fire? Not half.
Posted by: "Johnny Cash" at 3:33 pm on 13.Apr.2007A usual go’er to this place, but i must say the standards have dropped. I was disappointed for the 3rd time now, thinking it was just a bad day the other 2 times. There was no taste to the food, and it was lacking essential spices. When I said it was not chilly enough i was presented with a plate full of raw chillis. Don't think I’ll be going there again
Posted by: "not impressesed" at 3:00 pm on 22.May.2007I had the chicken curry last friday (5.90, 7.00 w/ tip) and was pretty impressed. The taste was excellent and there was a satisfactory amount of food. The owner kept offering me more rice but I didn't need any. Good food, good price.
Posted by: ejb515 at 4:05 pm on 29.Jun.2007Me and a friend of mine decided to treat our selfs with some good Indian food and were at this place yesterday evening. All I could say is, the food was amazing, we had Butter Chicken, Dal Makhani, Nan, Masala Papad. We went there with low expectations, but I was surprised at the quality of food. The environment was not of ma liking, and the service was fine. Its worth visiting, 31€ is what we paid and is worth to the last cent.
Posted by: esunny at 9:52 am on 2.Oct.2007Garam Masala seems to have changed owners. The lunch menu has changed and the prices have gone up. Unfortunately the quality of food and service has gone down.
Posted by: "Frank Cauldhame" at 3:23 pm on 18.Jan.2008Terrible and overpriced would be my headline. Although there are still billboards in the U-Bahn that suggest same ownership as Goa, the previous reviewer might me right on.. The Naan was freshly baked but so dry it almost crumbled. Ordered the South Indian duck for almost 14 Euro. Got a tiny bowl of meat and mediocre seasoned sauce. No thanks, I'll return to the Taj Mahal if I want a great Indian meal.
