Ganesha - Rosenheimerstr. 113, 81667 Munich, Germany
For many years this address was occupied by an Indian restaurant called Namaskar. In early 2005 the premises were re-born as Ganesha.
Ganesh is apparently the elephant headed son of Shiva and Parvati. As for the Munich restaurant, we've heard good things.

I tried this place out on Sunday (15.May.2005) and was more than pleased with the entire meal. Onion Bhaji starters for both of us and main courses of Chichen Tikka Masala and Karahi Murgh. Both excellent and very flavoursome. The service was fast and very friendly, although we did go at a very quiet time of day, so I can not judge how they are when busy. If you ask the waiter, they will make ball-shaped Onion Bhajis (instead of the flat rings common in most Munich restaurants), although he did say that for the best taste they need tobe pre-ordered so the spices have time to work, something to be considered for a curry night). The room is large enough for, and the owner willing to, cater for large groups. All in all a big thumbs up!
Posted by: "Owain Glyndwr" at 12:14 pm on 19.May.2005Currently perhaps my favourite Indian restaurant in Munich. Very friendly service and the food is of excellent quality. Great for spending an evening out dining, but also suitable for a quick lunch, for which they have inexpensive menus on offer.
Posted by: oli2000 at 2:22 pm on 17.Nov.2005I have eaten in the restaurant on a number of occasions and have always been pleased with the food and service. But yesterday we didn't feel like going out but getting food delivered. My previous favourite Indian delivery has become unreliable as far as quality is concerned, so we thought we'd try somewhere new. So we phoned and asked, on the off-chance, if they delivered, even though no mention of this was made on the menu or in the phonebook. The answer was yes, so we ordered our usual of pappads, Kahari Murgh, Chicken Jalfrezi and two plain nan. The food was fantastic and the portions quite large. This will now be our regular place for home-delivered Indian food!
Posted by: "Owain Glyndwr" at 6:22 pm on 30.Jan.2006Best Indian restaurant in Munich by my reckoning, and I've tried a lot of them. Very friendly and professional staff, really fantastic food, big portions, and great prices. You can't ask for me. And it doesn't seem to be in the guide books nor - fortunately - in favour with Munich's schickeria so you can always get a table. Love it.
Posted by: "Christos" at 1:44 pm on 27.Oct.2006It is a very enjoyable and affordable dinning experience. The quality of the meat is very high and the seasoning is excellent. The wait staff is very responsive and agreeable.
Posted by: "very enjoyable" at 6:45 pm on 18.Jun.2007The food here is really good, a little too much lardi dah in the dishes..but why bother going out to eat if your not gonna change from your normal indian style cooking. The service is super fast! we wanted to have a quick meal before going to the cinemas...it's took us a total of 40 mins for two courses. Really impressed by the service.
Posted by: "fast food" at 1:14 pm on 11.Jul.2007Definitely one of the best Indian meals I've ever had. The chicken curry was perfect. The service is pleasant and friendly. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for an enjoyable evening out.
Posted by: "mark" at 1:11 pm on 7.Sep.2007I really love this restaurant. Every time I visit they really go the extra mile to make my visit memorable. They truly go above and beyond to make guests happy. We often get carry out and even if we wait for one minute they always offer a small cup of chai tea. The Mango chicken and Shahi Paneer are both very delicious. Most high recommendations for this little gem.
Posted by: "anonymous" at 10:22 am on 30.Nov.2007Good stuff! I've ordered take out once and eaten in the restaurant once and both times the food was delicious and service friendly. This will be a regular for us now!
Posted by: dcsoxgirl at 12:38 am on 4.Feb.2008I've been avoiding this place for a while, thinking it was still Namaskar. Anyway, tried it last night and was pleasantly surprised. The vindaloo was very spicy but not too spicy so you couldn't taste it, and the onion bhajis were proper "English style" (although I believe only on request, otherwise you get the onion ring ones). Will probably go back soon.
Posted by: "curry monsta" at 4:50 pm on 20.Feb.2008I had dinner here last weekend (23rd March 2008) with my girlfriend and just wanted to say that I was rather annoyed with their attitude and the way we were treated after we complained about something. The food was pretty good; I ordered a lamb botti marsala and while the sauce was very good the meat itself was a bit tough and chewy. However the problem started when we had finished our meals and drinks and were waiting for the waiter so that we could ask to pay. When he arrived and started clearing the plates and glasses he asked us if we would like a mango schnapps. Not my favourite thing in the world but seeing as I thought it was the complimentary drink at the end of the meal we both said yes. We then asked him to bring the bill which now included 2 schnapps on it for nearly 6 Euro. We called him over to say that there was a misunderstanding and we thought that they had been the usual free drinks at the end of the meal. He just mumbled a few words about how they weren't free and that we must pay for them. So we called the manager over and tried to explain that we felt like we had been conned into buying these drinks but all he did was treat us like we were trying to take advantage of them by getting as many free things as possible out of them. He said "what do you expect, we can't give out everything free and you got popadoms at the start as well"! Wow, way to go to impress the customers. Give out free popadoms like every other Indian restaurant in town. And then he just walked off and refused to listen to our complaint. So this is 2 customers that won't be going back there nor recommending the place to anyone either.
Posted by: SleeplessInMunich at 10:43 am on 25.Mar.2008I've sadly also had SleeplessInMunich's experience. The food there is excellent, could not be more different than its vile predecessor the Namaskar. But we had a group of about 12 after Friday drinks, and he offers the Mango Schnaps and then tries to charge us for them. I told him he was very stupid, gaining a few Euros but losing valuable customers and getting bad reviews playing a trick like that, and then he backed down. We didn't pay and I have been back since.
Posted by: MadAxeMurderer at 1:40 pm on 25.Mar.2008Sleepless, the same thing happened at a curry night, and I know some Curry regulars will not go back because of it. It was a dumb move on their part. (the restaurant's not the curry attenders)
