Everest - Munich

Everest is a good choice. Excellent food - a nice spicy Jalfrezi without having to ask - good service - even though there was only one guy looking after all 25 of us - and reasonable prices - Weissbier for €2.80.

My lamb Karahi was very good as well, nicely spiced with all the right spices. Getting decent pickle and mango chutney to go with the poppadoms is bonus too. I hate the usual Yellow thing, Brown thing and Green thing we get at most Indians in Munich.

Thought the waiter did a great job coping with us all on his own. Drinks prices were very good, €3.50 for a white wine, €2.50 for a helles. Would definitely go back again. One downside a couple of people had the Chicken Tikka which they weren't so happy with.

My Bengali dish was also very good, spicy (just right) and the white wine was excellent and served cold and we had plenty of free poppadoms and excellent sauces instead of the usual watered down ones. I'd definitely go back again.

This was far from a good experience (food-wise) for me last night. The food was over salted, the service slow. While we asked for spicy (and not "German spicy" but proper) it was very bland and salty. They offered to bring chilis and take mine back - where it appears they just stirred chilis into it. My paneer was like rubber - and cold in the middle, even after "reheating". The wine was ok though. Still, not worth the walk from the s-bahn for it.

Went here last night with a sizeable group, and the food was across the board appalling. A few people said theirs was "okay", while the rest of us didn't like ours at all. In general lacking in spice and flavour, instead loads of salt. I normally don't object to a meal not being as hot as I asked for, but it was just not tasty either. The pappadams and accompanying dips were great, and the wine good and nicely priced. Not enough to save the restaurant though. It was so bad, I would not give this place a second chance.

The above post is completely fake seems like its a post from one of the competitors its recession time so the big fishes don't allow the small one to survive. Its mentioned in above post "The pappadams and accompanying dips were great" so for your information Everest offers dal soup instead of pappadams like other restaurant. This is a small nice decent restaurant where one can have delicious Indian food and the service is also very good and friendly even there is only one person to care for everything.

no, Simon, the above post by victoria, aka ruapehu, (as many people on TT know) is NOT a fake. Former regular at curry night. There were several other TTers there, one of them has already posted her comments. Dal soup? Guess you've only ever been at lunchtime? In the evening pappadams are served as a standard in most Indian restaurants around here. I wouldn't normally continue a conversation on a review thread, but this restaurant was absolutely the pits.

I've only been once to the Everest about 2 years ago, but vowed never to go back (until they change management). I had a abysmally untasty curry that I refused to eat or pay for.

You're way off there, Simon. I was one of those whose main (lamb karahi) was "okay" but it was still way too salty. I couldn't finish it. The naan was nice though.

I was totally disappointed as well. I ate there as well and yes, while the pappadams were generous (you got more than a half per person as in most others in Munich) the food was well, left A LOT to be desired. I had the Chicken Bhunna. It was suppose to be "scharf" but you could literally feed it to a 1 year old it was so bland and spiceless. The service was good, but would not go back again and would not recommend to anyone. Most of us that were there were EXTREMELY frequent Curry goers in Munich and dare I say even a few of them have probably eaten and tried most of the Indian restaurants in Munich over a period of 10+ years, so these are indeed reviews from people who know, not passing tourist or people who don't know what Indian cuisine should taste like!
