Enchilada - Gabelsbergerstrasse 97, Munich, Germany

An excellent place for spicy Mexican food, weak Mexican beer and tequila-based long drinks. Good atmosphere, usually packed to the gills on Friday and Saturday nights, so book early or arrive very late if you want to eat sitting down.

Don't bother trying to book on the day, especially if you want to eat on a Friday night after Will Smith's latest blockbuster; just turn up and hope. If you arrive after visiting the nearby Cinema on Nymphenburgerstrasse, best of luck finding a spot because everyone else with the intelligence of a gnat has had that idea too.

Cool but tiny bar area at which to meet people, but the rest of the space is taken up by tables and there's no major action to be found there. Still, good atmosphere, and a lively, funky place for dinner.

Went here on a Friday night, and it was packed. The place is well-themed on the inside, which is a nice change of pace; it has a sort of "tourist bar in Cabo San Lucas" look. Plenty of pretty girls and boys to be seen, sipping their caipis. Looked like an after-work crowd; cute in that generic sort of way. There were empanadas (beef or vegetarian) on the menu, which I've only seen one other time in Munich, so I ordered a €9.70 plate of the beef, along with some hausgemacht tortilla chips and salsa. The salsa unfortunately was typical German: sweet, sticky ketchup. The hausgemacht chips suspiciously tasted like they came from a bag, but perhaps they were just old and cold. The empenadas were the worst I've ever had. All 3 of them looked, felt, and tasted like they were frozen and microwaved to excruciating temperatures. I don't think I'll gamble my dinner money on other dishes from them anytime in the long-term future. I would go back for some tequila, as they had 2 or 3 decent sipping reposados on the shelf.

Went here last Friday, around 7PM with a party of 5 people, no reservation. The staff told us it would be about 20 mins for a table, got a nice non-smoking table in the corner for the rest of the night. Cocktails were good, bar staff friendly, food was better than many of the mexican restaurants in Munich though portions were rather small. If you are on the elusive hunt for decent Mexican in Munich, this is as good as it gets around these parts! :)

I went to enchiladas and mexi´s it was typical euro an honest try but then i am soooo spoiled BECAUSE I AM MEXICANO--thats right el hombre himself. Brendra wrote me to get the skinny on the phatty on where to get good ingrediants for an HONEST enchilda cause ´´ENCHILDAS´´DOESN´T SELL THEM you would get slapped if you tried to serve that stuff in cali and in EL PASO-- MADRE MIOS AI yAI yAI... so start at rewe the big one close to the hauptbahnhoff the one with the aldi they have a section of OLD EL PASO food products and next to that is a section of fuego products the feugo pintos are better the old el paso pintos are too over processed there are black beans one aisle over as well on the bottom the fajita mix is ok as is the salsa a good base for enchilada sauce add a little distilled apple vinigar its sweet but not sugary. in the same store they sell flour tortillas in the bread section 1 euro cheaper than the old el paso brand and just as good- for THAT (1/4 to 1/2 a table spoon for 1 pound of skillet ingrediants) SECRET spice find some ground cumino in asian or an indian hindu store it is what gives mexican food that earthy flavor dont over use it remember it is very POWERFUL and will make you repeat like a cannon hahahaha. now for a real KICK THE BLAAAMM!!! get some sariache sauce from the asian food store on augustiner str. it has a red rooster on it and is super popular in cali in tacarias add your garlic and haberneros from the bio store smear the pintos on the tortillias fill with your choice of goodies i like chicken and crabb add sour cream, cheese then put 6 to 8 on a flat tray cover with cheese and sauce bake for 15 minutes covered with foil the real deal baked enchildas just like back home in WEST texas and cali. no one should suffer from the lack of good burritos and enchildas ever!!!

After our Pappasito's disaster we were fortunate to end up at Enchilada. Fantastic authentic Mexican food of the highest quality. All ingredients were prepared to the perfection. The Fajitas con Todos contained the finest meat, the Plato Mexicano was a delight. Yes, I admit, I would have preferred corn tortillas. But we are far away from Mexico, after all I can buy wonderful corn tortillas at the Mercado de Mexico and cook Mexican at home. We'll return soon to Enchilada. The place was packed. Reservations highly recommended.
