Emporio Armani Caffé has to be the best cocktail bar in town. The drinks are amazing, fresh and generous. Check out the watermelon martini or the lychee champagne... and for cigar smokers they do a fantastic smoke Martini. No surprise after a quick talk with the barmaid Claudia, she told me that the list has been made by Nick Joanblanq. He is very well known in London for the different bars he opened. Pricewise the restaurant is a bit too much! It seems to be "really Armani" but the bar is really normal. It's even cheaper than Schumann's with better quality and an amazing range of spirits (the vodkas and rums). The service would need some improvement in the restaurant but at the bar they were very helpful and friendly. Definitely the hot pick for central Munich. The Dj is playing all night long, some easy listening to start with and then some more funky house around 10pm until 2am. It's the kind of fresh air Munich needed. In a couple of month this place is gonna be packed, so follow my advice... Go there before they other found it...
Posted by: "Barsuperstar" at 11:37 pm on 23.Jan.2004This is currently the most elegant bar in the city. Dress up, go with a friend, and don't expect to pick anyone up. The best part is it's open until 2AM (I have closed it a couple of times myself). Fabio and Claudia offer perfect service and quality drinks.
Posted by: "Van" at 4:33 pm on 26.Jan.2004Dropped by last night with some friends. I especially enjoyed having the 'basil mojito' - very original fresh taste. Fabio and his team were fantastic. To my knowledge, it is the only place in Munich where one can carry conversations in English or in French with the staff. Fabio's bar experience in Paris and London made the evening especially interesting. The great ventilation is something you notice the moment you walk in. Even though many people were lighting up, I could barely notice the smoke, and my clothes didn't smell like an ashtray when I left. Could this be a candidate for the next Toytown evening?
Posted by: "Isaak" at 10:20 am on 8.Feb.2004I popped in Saturday night, and I totally agree with the previous praises. You go in expecting a very pretentious attitude and receive some of the friendliest service in all of Munich. We sampled two interesting martinis - one was cucumber, the other ginger. The ginger martini was described by my date as "the best cocktail he has ever had". The cucumber one was interesting and would probably hit the spot during the summer. Go before people know about this place!!!

Posted by: "Anonymous Coward" at 11:35 am on 4.Mar.2004I've been here twice now. The first time, I had excellent, friendly service. The cocktails were huge and I was given high quality bar snacks. The second time, I was treated like shit. Crappy small cocktails and hard, dry cheese.
Posted by: "Finbarr Saunders" at 5:58 pm on 7.Jul.2004The bar staff at the Armani Cafe would do well to take note that just because you look like a scruff, it doesn't mean you can't afford to drink there.
Posted by: "Spoilt Batsard" at 10:35 am on 2.Aug.2004Was here about a week ago for lunch. Felt the drinks were a bit pricey for a lunch stop, (8 for a cocktail, 6 for a small glass of wine) but tasty. The food was very good and reasonably priced for a central upmarket location. It was busy outside, but pretty quiet inside.
Posted by: "Show'Em" at 12:21 am on 6.Jun.2005Sad news for ginger martini fans. The bar management has changed and they no longer serve the wide range of cocktails that they did previously. Instead they only have a small selection of standard day drinks. Also, the new staff, all male, are not as friendly as Claudia and friends were. A sad turn of events.
