Cohibar City - Herzog-Rudolf-Str. 2, 80539 Munich, Germany

Cohibar City - not to be confused with the Cohibar in the Kultfabrik. A great little Latino bar located in a basement just off Maximilianstrasse - between Prinzip and Café Roma. There is a bar, a very small seating area, and the dancefloor which takes up most of the foor space. Come here on a busy night (Friday or Saturday after about 11pm) and it will be absolutely packed. Be prepared to stand or salsa dance the whole evening because seats are very few and far between.

I remember about 2 years ago or thereabouts hearing that Cohibar City had opened. I'd been to Cohibar in KPO (now Kultfabrik) a number of times and really enjoyed it, but never got around to going to it's city sister. So last night, after a few beers in Kilian's accompanied by an excellent guitarist (gotta love that Mr. Bojangles), we headed off to have a looksee. Walking up Maximilianstr the most important point to note is that anyone who pays €510 for an orange jacket from Moshammer's shop should be f*uking shot! Cohibar City is surprisingly small when you first walk in. They've gone for the bare brick look and after about 2 minutes in the place I decided that I was very disappointed that I'd never been before. The service is without a doubt, probably the best I've seen in Munich. Take a picture of this, stunningly gorgeous waitresses (even by Munich standards) wandering around, smiling at you all the time, making sure that you're well watered. Latino music, but without any cheesiness. Basically the kind of beats I'd expect in a Tarantino movie or featuring in the likes of Desperado. Dunno how the prices ranged as I was too hammered on awesome Whiskey Sours to notice. In stark contrast to most of Munich's nightlife offerings, Cohibar City is a standing bar. There are some stools along the bar and some seats in a corner but basically you've gotta stand. This does a couple of things. Firstly it means that everyone is in the same place rather than segregated into little sections. And secondly it means that the hot latina customers shaking their thing around are quite easy to engage. So long as you're willing to give it a whirl. As the night goes on girls get up and dance on the bar. These are not paid professionals, just girls having fun on a night out. The door policy appears to be fairly gentle. We were there with a regular, so no problems, but from what I've heard, so long as you're reasonably dressed and not mashed you shouldn't have a problem. Certainly being in the company of a woman will go a long way. The other bit of inside info I was given is that the waitresses, although hot as hell and flirty as you could imagine, are mostly going out with the male staff members, so don't bother trying, just enjoy. If ever there was an appropriate time for a Schwarzenegger quote it's now. "I'll be back!" Quote for the night. Girl shaking her ass directly in front of my mate. She turns to him and says, "You like?". Nuff said.

Been here a good few times, chics mostly ho's here. Not my scene. It is a smaller version of Copperface Jacks , if ur gettin what im givin. The times I've been there (maybe 4) I've had a flat out f*ck offer , numerous ass groping (from women now) etc. etc. and I'm no oil paintin' . No money was exchanged or was involved in so much as I understood the exchanges. I'm not sayin it's a bad thing - some guys like that kind of thing. First time I went was grand - met some chics from Columbia - only one of them was an out an out hoor (tight pink dress no less, no knickers according to my Brazilian mate). Second and subsequent times it got worse - almost always loads more guys to girls (see it compares very well to Coppers/Major Tom's - the latter was occassionally a good night out). In that area I try always to push the crowd towards Atomic (which rulez).

Just don't do what I did, instead of waiting for the waitress service, went to the bar and said, quick, vodka redbull and the guy opened by mouth and poured in the vodka straight from the bottle. Bar staff with personality and always lots of fun people here. Highly recommended

Best place to go if you want to spend a night in hospital. This weekend I saw how a bouncer smashed the face of a guy, just because he sad something the bouncer disliked. Still standing after the first punch three of the bouncers pitched into the small German feller. Even when Kultfabrik securities came they wanted to continue. Those guys at the door have chosen the right job to manage their aggressions. The whole situation reminded me of a horde of pit bulls haunting down an easy prey. To me it seams that they were on drugs, to be so aggressive. It was the first time that I saw something like that happen in a Munich club, normally the bouncers try to de-escalate such situations.

Sorry just got confused. Cohibar-City is a really nice place to go. It is the Cohibar in the Kultfabirk where you should not go. The Cohibar in the Kultfabirk is the place to go, if you want to spend a night in hospital. Sorry again for that mistake.

I love it! It's hard to find places like the Cohibar City anywhere else. The staff is extremly friendly and clearly enjoying the atmosphere and each other and that's what makes the difference. The fact that it's so small gives it a nice touch, sort of like having a party in your basement!
