In terms of décor Cohibar is the best dressed club/bar in Kultfabrik - say "Hi" to Che Guevara when you enter. The music is mostly Latin American and LOUD.
Very good place to bump into people. Girls dance in the aisles and you can easily make eye contact with groups of semi-naked women gyrating to the salsa and samba. If you are lucky some of them will dance on the bar, which the staff don't do anything to discourage. I somehow don't think they would be quite so forgiving if semi-naked men started dancing on the bar, know what I mean?
The service sucks sometimes and some of the waitresses can be slow and ungracious, but you don't go to Cohibar for the service.

Note that there are two Cohibar's in Munich. The one in the city center on Maximilianstrasse is called Cohibar City. Then there is the Cohibar club in the Kultfabrik.
Music is, not surprisingly, Latino.
Open Thursdays to Saturdays, 9.30pm until late.
We were on a mission to dance salsa Friday night. We set off for El Palacio 2 at Kultfabrik, but the 10 euro entrance fee was steep. We opted for Cohibar. It is not a salsa club, but the music is good for dancing (latin plus). The girls still dance on the bar, the bartenders twirl bottles a la Tom Cruise, and caipis were on special for 5,50 all night (but were heavy on the ice). It all gets a little cliche and crowded after a while, but the place has atmosphere and I had a great time. Before 11 pm, I think entrance is free.

Posted by: "The Inspector" at 8:56 pm on 17.Nov.2005Best place to go if you want to spend a night in hospital. This weekend I saw how a bouncer smashed the face of a guy, just because he sad something the bouncer disliked. Still standing after the first punch three of the bouncers pitched into the small German feller. Even when Kultfabrik securities came they wanted to continue. Those guys at the door have chosen the right job to manage their aggressions. The whole situation reminded me of a horde of pit bulls haunting down an easy prey. To me it seams that they were on drugs, to be so aggressive. It was the first time that I saw something like that happen in a Munich club, normally the bouncers try to de-escalate such situations.
Posted by: "Caroline" at 3:23 pm on 19.Dec.2005I have been going to this bar about one year, i must say what brings me there is first of all, the entrance is just 3 euros, the employes are totaly friendly and if you are a good customer, you get a few drinks on the house. i must say after going there so often i notice that the music doesnt change much, it is still nice but after a while gets boring hearing the same songs every weekend so Morilo or Joel pease just play something diferent once a while.
