Incidentally, for 15 years "Chez Philippe" lived at Holzstrasse 16 in Isarvorstadt. In June 2005 they moved to the new premises in Giesing. The Holzstrasse premises are now occupied by Amalon.

Non-Smoking -- It's non-smoking!

Chez Phillipe at Holzstrasse is closed now, replaced by another restaurant which I have unfortunately not been to yet.

Had to try it out as it's just over the road from us and looks nice. But... the two of us ended up paying over €80 for two courses each plus a half bottle of wine and it was, well, disappointing. The steak was tough and the sauce forgettable. Can't remember what my girlfriend had but she wasn't impressed. Preferred the Italian that used to be there...

I went with a group a few months ago and found the service to be arrogant and unfriendly. The small amount that I had to eat was expensive (but good). I did not drink wine that evening and this clearly was not appreciated by the staff. A shame

A great place, always excellent food and atmosphere, reasonably priced for what they offer too.
