Chantra - Munich

Chantra is situated at Rotkreuzplatz in the courtyard behind the McDonalds, opposite the Thai supermarket. The small glass pavilion of a restaurant looks fairly unassuming from the outside, however this place has been run as a family business for more than 20 years.

Chantra seems to be owned by an extremely friendly Thai lady who also cooks guaranteeing the high authenticity, another of the best clues of this being the obligatory potraits of the Thai King and Queen alongside a Buddhist shrine. Despite the fairly cheesy/dated decor, if what is most important is the food, then you definitely won't be disappointed!

The service, which was provided by the owner's half-Thai/German son was also fantastic. Mid-range prices. If you are local, also look out for the 2 for 1 vouchers which are regularly in the Nymphenburg press.

I agree with the review. Good food and nice atmosphere. They don't have Phad Thai on the menu, but they make it if you ask and it is VERY good!!!
