Great food here, and not outrageous prices. Service was quick and friendly when we went there, though it wasn't too busy at the time. Thumbs up!
Posted by: "Richard" at 6:10 am on 7.Apr.2003I've been to a few of the chinese restaurants, including China Jade near Michaelibad, but none of them have quite measured up to this one in terms of quality. Just a stone's throw away from Theresienstrasse U-Bahn, the restaurant serves rather authentic chinese food(being a chinese, I should know). Some of the dishes have been inveitably altered to suit German tastebuds, but it's still what I consider I can get in my hometown of Singapore. The owner is a kindly old gentleman from Guangxi... The best dish tasted when I last visited recently was the "Mei Cai Kou Rou", loosely translated as preserved vegetables with pork. Look at the picture. I believe on the menu it is S6. It was so good that we bunch of Sg and China nationals ordered it twice. And oh, the servings of rice is free flow and we had a great time there. Hopefully the pictures that I send are displayed. Pictures says a thousand words.
Posted by: "Muendharmonika" at 3:05 pm on 8.May.2006I don't know, I went last night and I had 'Mapo' Tofu, which is one of my favorite dishes in general, and it was pretty weak. I am a white american, perhaps they gave me the kiddie version? Would it better if I asked for it 'sehr scharf'?
Posted by: "Nick" at 6:42 pm on 9.May.2006Quite true, hmmm tried that too and found it not very authentic, maybe you will have more luck with the dishes that are less spicy. Generally Sichuan dishes are not fantastic in this place, but it's canton dishes are good. Heard from someone that there's a restaurant near Unterhaching that serves good mapo dofu...will try out and post the results. Cheers! Maybe u could try asking for extra spicy...
Posted by: "muendharmonika" at 9:18 pm on 9.May.2006Hi, me again, we went to the same restaurant yesterday nite and ordered Mapo Dofu, it was pretty good. I think I asked specifically for extra spicy. The essence of mapo dofu is in the chili as I guess they served u the localized version. Just as for extra spicy. Another dish I like is A7, braised beef with fuzu, think u will like it.
