Cafe Reitschule - Munich

Cafe Reitschule - Königinstrasse 34, 80802 Munich, Germany

With a sprawling maze of Terrasse and bar and pavement, Reitschule is a relaxing setting for summery evenings or snowy weekends when the Englischer Garten is too much like hard work.

It used to be very trendy, but seems to have been tuned out by a lot of the more fashionable locals now, although you can still take in the view of some of Munich's richest young people fussing over food and watch their rich friends' horses trotting in the indoor arena through the glass windows.

If you are rich enough you too can join the riding school, which abuts directly onto the park via a small bridge, but you probably have to own your own horse, or at least a leg or something. Luckily the glass insulates you from the “animal perfumes” when sipping your G&T. Also great for Sunday breakfasts.

Also, if you go down the steps you'll find that it is a club. Thursday nights are a fun time to come here as it is a meeting ground for the local after work single crowd and they even serve a dinner buffet.

They're opening their terrace for the season this Wednesday (4.May.2005). Afterwork party: 6pm to 3am. Music by DJ JoHannes (Rock Pop NuBreaks) and a start up buffet included.

Last night was packed to the gills with quality talent. The afterwork parties are going down a storm these days. €6 entry. Music is 18 month old pop/dance stuff, like Kylie, Robbie, Madonna, etc. Pretty good fun. Check it while the season lasts - Thursdays throughout the summer.

as After-work club on Thursday: 4 stars out of 5 (too crowded, commercial music, but nice location with 2 terraces) as bar/restaurant all the other days: 2,5 stars out of 5 (pretty normal) as terrace to sit outside in summer: 3 stars out of 5 (nice indeed, but tooo packed with Schwabinger-and-othercomparable-schickies

Don't to the very top level - its a very poor "BBQ" menu and not worth the effort. Stay on the lower levels or the front terrace for a good menu....

I've been on the terrace last weekend and need to say the BBQ was awesome, very good service. You can watch the BBQ Chief in the back while he's preparing your food. Defenitly worth a try!!!

Breakfast is good here!

A group of us went for lunch, and everyone liked it. They serve breakfast late, so I had french toast with maple syrup! Sooo good. The salads and daily menu all looked good, and were very reasonable in price. The restaurant part is huge, so we didnt need reservations, and we could see the riders in the horse area. Would be a fun outing if you had kids. There was an outdoor deck area that we saw, but it was closed (not warm enough yet). Overall, would definitely go back! Nothing fancy for guests, but good for a lunch date with friends.

I dont think it will be anywhere in the near future that the Cafe Reitschule will open its doors again!!! They apparently have no Baugenehmigung for the complete refurbishment and since 7 weeks has been Baustop!!!!Shame shame
