When we were there in '98, they had a non-smoking section with great views of the Plaza (sorry, Platz)
Posted by: "Larry" at 3:35 am on 12.Apr.2006I was there a few days ago. Place was a bit cramped. A bit noisy,Imagine about 50 people talking at the same time in such a small place:) get the picture? Not so Child friendly (Kinderwagen not allowed inside.) Nice view!
Posted by: maze176 at 8:50 pm on 11.May.2007we (three adults and one child) went here last week for 'tea and cake'. we were attended to by three waiting staff who really looked after us. they spoke English too! the place was packed as it was 11:00 am just when the Town Hall Glockenspiel show starts, so there was a great atmosphere. for the four of us the bill came to about 21€ which we all thought was very reasonable. the portions of cake were massive and the tea was quite posh!
Posted by: Moonboot at 4:14 pm on 28.Feb.2008Been around for years and has long-term employees/waitstaff. I love this cafe. I sit on the patio when it's sunny and nice out, or along the windows facing the Rathaus on the dreary, rainy days to sip tea and hot chocolate, maybe have a bowl of tomato soup. This was my favorite cafe when I lived in Munich over five years ago and I liked it the first time I went there on a trip to Munich in 2000. On my recent trip to MUC I was relieved to find that almost nothing had changed EXCEPT ONE THING: no more smoke!!! Brunch is a great time to go. That was a huge improvement. Yes, it can be busy, but arrive a bit early or make a reservation by phone. The food, drink, and location are good.
