Café Florian - Hohenzollernstr. 11, 80801 Munich, Germany

Hohenzollernstrasse 11

Café Florian is not far from where Damien lives, so for him it is already a good meeting point, although I suppose you could not care less. I've been coming here on and off since my first week in Munich, so it can't be that bad.

It usually has a range of good-looking people lounging around the tables having informal dinners. The Terrasse is basic but relaxing in the summer. But do not try the Terrasse if there are more than two of you (very small tables), or if you want to sit out late (it closes early due to the residential location). The food is mostly Italian and pretty good, but the menu is tiny, something like 10-12 dishes ranging from starters to desserts on one page.

This place has a secret level like a video game. You find it if you go down to the toilets. There is a bar downstairs! Isn’t that clever? This secret level is called Coccodrillo, it looks like a cellar and even though it sometimes features live music, it can be a desert, which is weird considering how packed upstairs is. One of Munich's little mysteries.

i heard people (Glochenbackviertel addicted) saying that Coccodrillo would be the best spot in Schwabing, when live Jazz is played... I don´t know. What i know for sure, is that Florian is the copy of an Italian bar, but in Germany. Then: good coffee and food, friendly waiter, noisy, and tooo much smoke in the air...

And you know why it's called Florian? Because that's the owner and manager's name. Well how about that? You can always tell which one he is. He's the one sliding down in his seat at the window table. Don't think I've ever seen him sober. Nice guy though. And yeah, nice little café.

It's a cozy place but I was expecting it to be more hip and less -- wood table-y. The smoke borders on extreme. The food was nice and a little different than the normal "putenbrust salat" bit that you get at most places. One Saturday night we went there to eat with the intention of watching the band afterwards ... a band that was supposed to start at 9. At 10:30 there was no sign of any band starting and we got tired of watching the instruments sitting there so we left. Wouldn't rely too much on the "cocodrillo" bar for entertainment purposes.

Been going 2 the Florian the past 8 years. Good atmosphere in the summertime, beautiful women inside and out. Lots of wanna be and people pretenders. Managment needs too renovate the bathroom, it sucks.

cough... the smoke was really bad the other night. It almost suffocated you. In fact, if you do smoke then don't bother bringing your cigarettes since this place provides the nicotine free of charge!!! urrgghh!
