2007 update: a non-smoking section has been added! At lunchtime anyway. ![]()
We have a Uni Stammtisch once a fortnight in Bobolowsys... it's on a Monday night, when it's all you can eat, and half price cocktails from 9 onwards. It's always been ok. It's not the cheapest if you don't go for happy hour, but the service has always been good... the only bad thing I have to say is, don't go there if you want to talk to the people you're with. It's generally very loud!!
Posted by: "Kathie" at 9:17 am on 14.Feb.2004I don't really know what to say about Bobolovsky's. The food is pretty good, but nothing special and a tad on the expensive side I thought. I can't complain though, everyone else seemed very happy with theirs. The atmosphere is a bit strange, they have a big screen on which there was footie showing, which maybe deadened the place a bit. It also seemed a bit off the beaten track to me, being even further away from the main M-Freiheit flow than I thought. As was said here a couple of days ago, the waitresses are cute, but actually rather run of the mill for Munich to be honest, though I wish they would not wear such TIGHT T-Shirts. Or rather... that is... I mean... no, you'll all read that whatever way you want anyway. The cocktails though, if the Minzners Dream that I had is anything to go by, are really rather nice. I first tried a MD in Cafe Munich and found themmmmm... yeah... mmmm... Anyway, last night I tried one or two (well, the first one could have just been luck, right? I couldn't leave my research unfinished!) in Bobolobolovsky's. A bit less per glass than at Cafe Munich, I think, but they also tasted nicer. A bit less alcoholic too (which is just an excuse to have an extra one, so I'm not complaining), which allowed me to savour the taste a bit more. Lubbly. I wuz a pitty hoppy Inglander on the way train going home, though I did resist the temptations to treat everyone to a round of Rule Britannia (Shame! Shame!) and shout "Mind the gap!" every time the U-Bahn doors opened. In summary: nice place, shame about the t-shirts.
Posted by: "Noddy" at 9:18 am on 14.Feb.2004good mainstream food for very reasonable prices. Two clear plus: really friendly waitresses and the Premiere screen... Not the "place to be" but also not bad.
Posted by: "The Inspector" at 8:00 pm on 15.Jan.2005No way! I don't know if the rest of you are Brits or Germans or what, but I just had the most disgusting "American" breafast there I think I have ever eaten. OK, the place is really dirty, the menus filthy, the waitresses, well... see above. So I order pancakes, eggs no bacon since I am veg. I get this huge disgusting spaceship-like thing about 2 inches thick, cut in half. This is supposedly a pancake. With like 2 teaspoons of cheap syrup on the side ("maple syrup"). The eggs are obviously fried in baconfat even though I ordered veg so I sent them back, ok. At least they made me some new ones. My boyfriend got his bacon and eggs actually _mixed_together_. It is like they saw a movie once where some Americans had breakfast and then they got absolutely everything wrong. Even the coffee tastes terrible. If you must eat there go for the toast. By the way it was pretty empty this Sunday morning at 11 so I guess I'm not the only one to think this.
Posted by: "Sarah" at 2:55 pm on 24.Apr.2005They have great lunch specials with a very good value for money. Really friendly staff; they give regular customers often a free coffee after a lunch.
Posted by: "Nicolas" at 9:30 pm on 26.Apr.2005I went to this place for brunch with my friends after one of the guys had just ran the Munich Half Marathon. I thought this place was ace! The food was great, service was good and we ate whilst sitting outside enjoying the fab sunshine. What more could you ask for in Munich on a Sunday afternoon?!!
Posted by: "Sharon" at 9:14 pm on 21.Aug.2005Now has a non-smoking section -- at lunch anyway. Don't know about the rest of the day as I've only been there for lunch.
Posted by: Gen at 8:51 pm on 10.Jan.2007Terrible fajitas, like chicken in soup! Burger was very processed, not home made... Can't see how this place can be called 'American'? Service was good though...
Posted by: "Steve" at 7:16 pm on 15.Apr.2007Went there for brunch today... it was closed. Under renovation? Not sure.
Posted by: ESLgeek at 10:45 pm on 12.Aug.2007They are open but the kitchen will not be open till September 2nd 2007. So no Food til then.
Posted by: ian at 5:21 pm on 30.Aug.2007probably the kitched was forced closed,... by local Town food inspectors!
Posted by: "Tobsen" at 4:51 am on 13.Sep.2007Went the other night for the All you Can Eat Monday night buffet (9.80/person). The Buffet was okay, hockey puck burgers, chicken wings were okay, at least the ribs had spicey BBQ sauce for them. The cocktails were not that strong or good in taste like we have had at alot of other Munich establishments. Was okay to try, but doubt I will be back in the near future.
Posted by: Carm at 9:35 am on 26.Apr.2008I ate at this restaurant a few days ago . there food is not at all the best but it was okay seeing as in which some people wanted seconds. i know this is an american restaurant so it was nothing new to me but i am part german and theres a great restaurant in winnipeg called gausthaus gutenberger it is really good all though you need to book ahead of time your likely to go on sunday at 11 when it isnt so busy because they have a buffet and let me tell you it is great. theres not a super amount of choice like golden corral in fargo, but this place is a wonderful german restaurant. btw golden corral is in fargo it is kind of chea like 7 bucks or what not and go for lunch its like a massiiiveeeee grocery store just filled with everything imaganable no joke. good buffet
