Barfly - Sternstr. 22, Munich, Germany

I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of food for a bar. I'd go here for dinner if you are out for a drinks evening with some friends. I was there for a girls' night, and the scenery was lovely (note Barfly is a notorious singles place). The cocktails are huge, and the food is good with a wide variety. They have some trays that looked nice to share, but I was happy with my curry. Beware: reservations necessary, bouncer at the door, one of those places. The place gets packed, so the ambience for dinner isn't great after 9 pm.

Sometimes I just don't understand Munich. How can such places be busy? I didn't find anything cool about it at all and it is freaking expensive! 3.10E for a 333ml weissbier and no happy hour for the overpriced cocktails. I have also definitely had better wings than the crap they have here. Why can't the Germans do decent wings?

Agreed. Bar fly one of the most overrated rätholes in munich, any bavarian bar that fails to serve at least one of the many available top beers wants closing down. or torching. overpriced and overrated. generally crap.

I really liked BarFly and would thoroughly recommend it. When I went (without reservation), the food was excellent (scampi starter and rib-eye for mains) and the cocktails and weiss beer weren’t bad either. It does surprise me how people object to certain bars in Munich not selling enough variety of beers, when they clearly do not pretend to be a traditional pub. After all, you wouldn’t complain that your traditional Munich Pub does the worst vodka martini you have ever tasted, would you?

Agree with all negative comments. For a city that is supposedly 'cool' there seems to be a rash of places like this that just can't do it. What exactly is a 'Latino Bar' anyway? And why is it called 'Barfly'?

Was there in Summer 2004. It's another overrated bar in Mu. Place was full of men & women who think that their sh*t doesn't stink and half of them are out of work or living off the welfare system. It's so sad.

I went there after a birthday dinner and had a great time. We were a group of people, enjoyed the drinks (cocktails), we had a table with a waiter. Since then I have returned couple of times. Yes, prices are expensive but then how many places are there in munich that are not expensive?

Hilarious place. The bar (yes, the bar, not the tables) was reserved in several places, and the dolled-up sunbed suntanned guys rolled up and ordered champagne for their blonde and tall tarts. I'm only jealous. Dangling the keys to my Opel Corsa just didn't cut it there.

I like Barfly - although I haven’t been there in a while. But they were one of the first bars that started to serve CAIPIS in Munich. ;-) http://www.barfly-munich.de/

Horrible place. They use plastic umbrellas and other trinkets from alcohol suppliers for their furniture. No style, but the atmosphere can be nice on the weekends, except for the clown of the doorman who has no style but tries so hard to fit in.

I like the place! I heard that the owner also owns Barysphär? (another cool bar) Is that true?

The owner is half owner Of Barysphär with Thomas Forkel

Not the place to go! If you like american food try out a different ones! A great place for burgers is Feuerberg in Untergiesing, or for breakfast try Eisbach on a sunday...

I went back there after a long break of just not going, and was shocked at the prices. No happy hour at all, and the drinks were definately not worth the minimun 11Euro. I can get stronger, tastier drinks around this city for alot less than that.
