Bar Harlander - Bräuhausstr. 8, 80331 Munich, Germany

Bar Harlander opened July 2004 in the location of the former Galway Hooker - the Irish pub which burnt down under mysterious circumstances, i.e. less than six months after opening. Did someone say insurance scam? Not I. Unlike the Galway, Harlander is a very swish bar. If you like hanging out with Munich's 'szene' crowd, and the international jet-setters staying at the Mandarin Oriental hotel opposite, then put this bar on your list. The Harlander is virtually next door to the Hofbräuhaus. The drinks are expensive (€3.50 for a 0.3l Weissbier), the music is gentle house, and the clientele are very good looking. If you like Bar Centrale and Cortiina, both just round the corner, then you'll like Harlander as well. ...

€3.50 for a 0.3l Weißbier? Daylight robbery.

Never noticed it before, ended up there last week when a mate from NY wanted something sleek. Full of mutton dressed as lamb and a bunch of pretentious characterless w**kers (sorry, forgot I was in MUC). Save yourself the dosh and stick to Bar Centrale or La Stanza in Lehel...

I was in there recently and also noticed the 'mutton dressed as lamb'. But there were numerous slinky young kittens there as well. All out of my league, unfortunately.

Was there the other night. Asked if they serve food and the waitress said no. Even though there were people at the bar stuffing their faces. Seems my money's good enough to fund a coup in Africa, but not to eat at this bar.

I LIKED the bar. The bar has great decor and great seating for groups. Go there expecting a night out in a New York style bar and not a bier garten. One of our group asked and brought a pizza in from next door and they gave us plates and napkins too. BTW-I ordered a Becks bottled bier at Harpers and Queens and it was 3.75 E.

The Galway Hooker had its windows smashed in on end before it finally closed down. My random guess is many international tourists are *not* culturally erudite enough to know that *hooker* is the name of a traditional small boat in certain regions, and really expressed their feelings about the lack of a erotic attention they felt they had an entitlement to expect, after spending lotsa cash in there? Nice try though.

Very nice bar. Delicious drinks and good club music.

This Bar is good for Germans and Christians- every other person has to be prepared to be thrown out by the owner who is very very antisemitic!

What a stupid comment, Anja. What about German Jews? How did they know you were Jewish? What is your basis for assuming antisemtism? And since this is a restaurants page, did you try the food? Do you have anything else to say except an unexplained claim?

anon. It's true. The owner is an asshat. And there has been at least one antisemitic incident that I know of personally. Also there have been enough witnesses to sue this bastard. Which will eventually happen. Avoid this place at all cost.
