This is a nice “chic-bavarian” restaurant, a new and ambitious creation of mr. Bachmaier - a well rated cook and gastronome who is also the owner of another “Wirtshaus” in Neuhausen. They serve good Bavarian and international standards. Since this place is located on Leopoldstrasse they´re adopting the appropriate style: namely there are tables outside in summer, and a lounge-area for Vips and wanna-be Vips.

went here for the 'piano brunch' on Sunday. was a lovely buffet with a wide range of breakfast foods (wurst, cheese, musli, yoghurt, exotic fruits, etc), Bavarian food (spare ribs, Schweinsbraten, dumplings amongst other things) and yummy dessert stuff (such as Strudel, tiramisu, RoteGruze and some other goodies) the pianist was fab too, he even launched into some Irish music when the parade went past, stopping briefly as the pipers went by. we stuffed our faces so it was great value for 15€ oh and the service was great! the nglish gardens is right nearby perfect for a stroll afterwards. I hear the Bayern Munich team likes hanging out here though I didn't see any of them on Sundaÿ!

Cool place but I won't go there because it is way too smoky. I wish they would introduce a non-smoking section considering the place is huge. Have mentioned it to them but nothing yet.....too bad.

If it is too smoky then stay at home.

by far the rudest and most incompetent service I have ever encountered in my life. last night was the fifth and last time I will ever go there. they are consistently unpleasant, to the point where you believe you are doing them a bad turn by giving them money. one friday we waited half an hour to pay our bill for one beer, all the while the waiting staff nonchalantly breezed past ignoring us. another time the waitress made us pay for 6 extra beers we didnt even order. and the final straw, last night the waiter cursed at a friend because she was in his way. if that wasnt bad enough, after trying to order a beer for 20 minutes, I went to the bar to order. on my return, the waiter berated me, telling me it was his job to serve the tables. far from pleasant, a horrendous experience- AVOID AT ALL COSTS! good music though, which is a pity.

completely agree with the post of Bodan. Once the waitress was so rude that we did not leave any tip. The problem is that they are situated on Leopoldstr. and customer service is not so important...

i also agree with both these posts. every time i've been here my night has been tainted with the poor attitude and service of the staff. sure, its a nice looking place, but isn't a bar more about the people? its hard to believe that the staff here are not aware that if they are nicer, they may get more in tips. i'll take a crappy little bar with nice staff any day over this. i won't be going to this place again.

we went here yesterday for the Sunday Brunch, have to say it was excellent still. now they even have a jolly cook at the buffet who will prepare your eggs any way you want, there are savoury things on the buffet such as curry and rice, there's Weisswurst and Brezen, and there is a dessert buffet with Strudel and Knödel, yum! it's still 15€ so quite a bargain! we stuffed ourselves silly for 3 hours, well worth it. the place was packed out so be sure to reserve in advance. service was good, our waiter was Christian and he was competent and friendly. there is a little enclosed smoking room outside the place too, so good for the smokers.
