Augustiner Mundart offers a lovely location, good service, a few regulars in Easter evening watching a Krimi. Tatort is shown every Sunday (except when it's postponed). Augustiner beer, obviously. Standard German fare, some too cheap to be believed -- Schweinsbraten mit Salat und Knödel is 7,90 and only 5,90 on Sundays. Rotating art exhibits. And the website is gorgeous.

Now the bad news -- the cheeseburger was awfully dry, although it was a full 8" tall when it arrived at the table what with all the toppings piled up. Just cooked too much. The Original Wiener Schnitzel was also dry. Good thing the beer is excellent. Maybe it was just an off night though, as I've heard good things about it from other people.
I spent a week on Reifenstuelstrasse and found Mundart extremely welcoming for a neighborhood bar. I thought the food prepared very well, unlike the review above. Thomas, the owner, was a great host.
Posted by: "Marc" at 7:13 pm on 21.Jun.2008I stayed on Reifenstuelstrasse for a week and my daughter and I thought Mundart was the highlight of our week! Thomas has the best food in Munich. We've been to all the regular places in Munich the last 2 years, the pubs, the beer gardens, the "top tens", but Thomas has the best place if you just want a real Munich experience that you won't find in Marienplatz or anywhere else. Thanks, Thomas, Mark and Samantha, July, 2008.
Posted by: "mark" at 6:19 am on 11.Sep.2008Dropped in here for a burger and a beer after a walk by the river (Pullach to town builds quite an appetite). Good burger (I guess these things sometimes take luck), and friendly service. Will go again.
