Arabesk claims to be the first Arabian restaurant to open in Munich. Whether or not you believe that, it has certainly been open a while - since 1984 in fact. In my opinion this is one of the best kept secrets in Munich. Located just a hop skip and a jump from the Giselastrasse U-Bahn station you find one of the most lavishly and realistically decorated Arabian enclaves in Munich. The walls and ceilings are all covered with intricate wood carvings. This and the lighting makes for a very relaxed atmosphere. They offer the traditional Lebanese mixed starter dishes called Mäsä. For the main dishes are a variety of meats from the grill all well seasoned with Arabian spices.

There are options for 3 different 3-course menus with Mäsä starters, a mixed grill main dish, and optionally desert and/or Arabian coffee or tea for: 24, 32, or 44

went to this restaurant after a good review in the Sunday Times in the uk. Found service was very poor, surly dour waiter who was very impolite to my wife and who really did not want us there. Food was indifferent. A place to be avoided.

As with most proper Lebanese places, don't bother with main dishes. The mezza is the main point of going (they have a nice assortment) and the mixed grill is the traditional followup. These they did quite well.

The service has always been good...a lot better than some places in Munich (slow service seems to be standard in Munich) The food (especially the meat) very good. And the atmosphere (on belly dancing nights) fantastic. I agree with anon up there: Mezza & Mixed Grill...go for it! ;o)

But in general the service is very slow, like some people have posted here. The atmosphere though, was excellent. The belly dancer was very good and then there was a singer and people dance and have lots of fun.
