Andechser am Dom - Weinstr. 7, Munich, Germany
A traditional Bavarian "kneipe". They have a smallish covered terasse at street level. Football is shown here (on a small screen TV!) and it's usually packed during big matches with the crowd spilling out onto the street. They also have a street café in the Summer - directly beneath the Frauenkirche cathederal. Which is nice.

A schicki micki seeing and being seen place in town. It's a high society place, where, even in winter, they sit outside just to make sure they are seen. Age average 45-65 years there.
Posted by: bubblylady at 8:40 am on 14.Feb.2004I drank the Helles in there last Sunday and it was very good for a change. The quality of the Hell beer there seems to vary (I guess because of turnover). I like to sit in the room that is half-open to the elements and shiver there on winter weekend afternoons.
Posted by: "Roland" at 2:37 pm on 19.Oct.2005Andechser am Dom is at a great location in between the Augustiner and Ned Kellys, with good food and great Helles.....be warned thought that the outside patrons are automatically served the 11.5% alcohol Helles because as the waiter noted to us "its cold out". Does get packed and the crowd looked kinda upitty but sitting outside under the heat lamps in a smoke free space made up for it. Plus they have a decent sized flatscreen on one side....oh and they will charge you for the basket of bread they drop off at your table.
Posted by: "Dave" at 9:30 am on 15.Nov.2006I agree that the beers here are great! I just want to point out that "Stammwürze" (original wort/gravity) is _not_ synonymous with percentage of alcohol. The original wort of Andechser Helles is 11.5; this beer contains 4.8% alcohol, which is hardly strong. If you want an amazing beer which also packs a punch, try Aventinus Eisbock at Weißes Brauhaus im Tal. A gorgeous beer, it has 12% alcohol. :-) OK, beer class is now over. Enjoy the brews at Andechser - they're all spectacular!
Posted by: "not_Mormon" at 6:47 am on 17.Nov.2006Stumbled in on a chilly February morning after a thursday night session. The weissewurst was exellent, as was the (flatish) Hells beer. The heated porch along Perusastrasse is a godsend when you need cool fresh air to clear your head - the fact that they seem to show footy on the large screen TV outside most of the time (from what I've read and experienced) is simply icing on the cake. I'd make a point to go there again.
