How many readers of TT work at the BMW Research Center (FIZ) on Munich's Knorrstrasse? Seeing as all employees are required to speak English, probably quite a few. Those that do work there will have seen the large boat that is currently parked outside the main entrance. For your information this is the 2nd fastest sailing boat in the world. In 2003 it was runner up in the final of the America's Cup - the most prestigeous prize in race sailing and the oldest trophy in international sport. The owners of the boat are BMW Oracle Racing, led by Oracle Corporation chief Larry Ellison, with skipper Chris Dickson at the helm. The boat will be stationed here until mid-September 2004. Take the U-Bahn U2 to 'Am Hart' if you want a look (but don't make a special trip, it's not that interesting!). ...

Not sure about the comment that all employees are required to speak English. Most of the G's here can't speak German properly.

As for the boat, it's Massive.

Well, they are supposed to be able to speak English. If they can't and they need to, send them to me!

They've now put up a platform so that you can have a look at the deck as well.

And regards speaking English, I know that in almost all the job offers for BMW, there is a line somewhere about being able to speak business English fluently, but it is often not the case when hiring people.

Cheers, Jo.
