Typical Bavarian food. Nothing fancy, large portions, and not much for non-meat eaters. Service was relaxed, verging on slow (waitress had to be prompted for dessert order, bill), but nevertheless efficient. What makes this place a really memorable and pleasant place to eat is the olde-worlde decor, and traditional architecture - arched, crypt-like ceiling; solid furniture; antique hangings. Waitresses in Dirndls and a good mix of ages and nationalities (not to say a large number of locals) also make this a great place to bring those not familiar to Munich. Atmosphere was warm, and more functional than romantic - The large courtyard beer-garden (partially covered in the colder months) might provide a more intimate setting. The non-smoking section was smoke-free. All-in-all, recommended and best to book in advance!

This is another place that I shall be adding to my list of restaurants to avoid. The menu consists almost completely of Bavarian meat dishes, so if you are wanting vegetarian or fish dishes, you will be out of luck. The food we had was typically Bavarian, not particularly large quantities, lacking in vegetables and not prepared with any loving care or attention. The place was full of tourists; I guess that they have such a good location that they don't have to try very hard. I ordered the French red wine, but it was of poor quality. If a restaurant manager can't be bothered to select a few nice wines for his menu, he is in the wrong business. There were a large number of people smoking, which bothered us. We didn't find the non-smoking part. The prices are reasonable, but actually I would have been prepared to pay a bit more for better quality food. The decoration is nice, but I don't go to a restaurant for the decoration.

If you're looking for crappy service and the ugliest waitresses I have ever seen than please visit this restaurant. Me and my significant other visited this quaint little villa in Munich on our honeymoon and were utterly appaled by the terrible service. We entered and were shocked to see that there was sauerkraut palstered upon the walls. The pictures could definently fool anyone because when we visited this place it was absolutely disgusting. I will never visit this place again!NEVER EVER! NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....but the desert was bombdiddlyocious

Had the Schweinsbraten there. Just average, nothing special. And the service was typical Bavarian, bad. The waitress must have been from royalty, because she acted as if we were bothering her by merely ordering the food. We will not go back.
