Alte Messe - Munich

Alte Messe is a mid-sized beergarden with self service and a small kids play area. There is a big beer hall and an indoor area (the Schwemme) with the high tables making it ideal for those days where the weather is uncertain.

"At least as good as Hirschgarten or the Chinese Tower. It as a Augustiner brewery beergarden...along with Hofbrau, Munich's best brew. This beergarden is easy to access with the U-Bahn (exit at Schwanthalerhöhe). The beergarden is 100 meters behind the statue of Bavaria at the Theresienhöhe, (Oktoberfest grounds). Yes, you can bring your own food at this beer garden. Yes, it is in the middle of a beautiful little chestnut tree park. Yes, this beer garden also has 2 playgrounds (one in the beergarden for toddlers) and a nice big grassy area for playing Frisbee, badminton or just sunbathing."
