al Dente - Munich

If you want to have a really good and low-key Italian meal in Giesing, then check out "al Dente"! My girlfriend and I had a truly delicious dinner there Saturday night. Everything we tried was great, from the appetizer we shared to the mixed grill platter to a tasty pasta dish to Tiramisu. They seem to specialize in mushrooms beloved among Germans, such as "Steinpilze", "Pfifferlinge", and "Austernpilze". They have Spaten and Franziskaner on tap and a good selection of Italian wines for under €20 a bottle. We drank a bottle of Sicilian red that was amazing. Disclaimer: The place is reasonably priced but not dirt cheap. It's certainly a place where families (read: young children) and couples, young and old, normal folks and eccentrics with their dogs peacefully share a single, fairly cozy dining area. In other words, this isn't the place for a first date or Valentine's Day! One last thing: the portions were just right, i.e. not too big and not too small. BUON APPETITO!
