The German English Association (GEA) is a group of English speakers in Munich that has existed since the early 1980's. They meet for drinks and chat every Friday at the Rechthaler Hof near the Hauptbahnhof.

There are various sub-groups within the German English Association, including:

  • beer gardeners - once a week in the summer
  • ski trip group - day and weekend trips, winter only of course
  • restaurant meals - different restaurants, about once a month
  • Sunday walks - most Sundays, different routes, all within S-Bahn distance

The German English Association tends to be a slightly older crowd. Say 40 years plus. A few youngsters too though.

They have two websites:

One of the best things the German English Association does is organise a bonfire night in Munich for Guy Fawkes night. If you're British you'll surely know what bonfire night is all about. If not, well, it's a celebration on 5th November. People light big bonfires and set off fireworks in remembrance of Guy Fawkes's attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London in the 17th century.
