Blade Night is a series of Summer evenings when thousands of rollerbladers follow a designated route through the city en masse. This year there will be a total of 18 blade nights: every Monday evening from 3rd May until 30th August inclusive. There will be four different routes which will be used in turn on different weeks. All the routes start and finish between Hackerbruecke and Circus Krone (near the Hauptbahnhof). The side-show entertainments start at 7pm whilst the skate train itself sets off at 9pm (later than last year so as to minimise traffic disturbance). The event started in 1999 and has taken place every Summer since. Previously there have been evenings when over 30 thousand rollerbladers took part. Official website: Muenchener Blade Night. dunno if anyone did blade-night last year but that's a good place to meet girls. it's full of sensational looking chicks. if you look a bit wobbly on your feet then you can easily ask someone to hold your hand if it looks like the road is going down a steeper bit. i've not been refused yet though that is maybe tempting fate too much! i think it appeals to their sympathy/pity emotions plus a bit of mothering instinct, hoo har - come to daddy!

If you intend getting around Munich by car or bicycle while the Blade-night is running you would be well advised to become familiar with the route. Otherwise you may find yourself stuck at a junction for anything up to 2 hours at worst as they stream past.
