1. Münchner Kartoffelhaus is a Bavarian / international restaurant serving wholesome potato-based meals. Not a bad restaurant.
Hohenzollernplatz 4, Munich, Germany
Tel.: 089 296331
District: Schwabing
U-Bahn to Nordbad
Open daily noon til midnight, on Sundays from 6pm til midnight.
Note that until 2005 this restaurant was located at Hochbrückenstrasse 3 in the city center. That address has since been occupied by a restaurant called Opatija.
In fact it can now be found at Hohenzollernplatz 4. Very well worth a visit!!
Posted by: "Gill Breeze" at 12:00 am on 1.Jul.2004I went there yesterday for supper because I enjoy potatoes of all shapes, flavors and preparations and was curious. Well, now I'm cured. The staff (that is, the waitress I dealt with) is friendly, bi-lingual or more, there is an English menu, the decoration scheme is cute with potato murals and recipes on the wall. However, the "fried potatoes" (Bratkartoffeln) accompanying the very good, tender true Wiener Schnitzel (made with veal) were not pan-fried but had been zapped in the deep-fat fryer and then dumped into and warmed over in the small metal frying pan in which they were served. A big disappointment indeed. I may give their baked potatoes or Rösti a chance but not in the near future.
Posted by: sarabyrd at 4:44 pm on 26.Jun.2008As if it was not obvious, potatoes are the cuisine theme. (They even have potato in the desert section of the menu.) I been several times and enjoyed my meal each time. Last night I had #57 on the menu; a mixed-grille of meat and potatoes. I didn’t each lunch today as I was still full. The service has been good and the menus are available in English. –Definitely worth checking out.
