I am trying to help my girlfriend connect her Mac laptop to Alice. They set her up with a modem while she was at work but
when she tried to connect to the modem, it prompted her for a username and Password. She has tried various combinations using the
phone number and other ways but cannot connect to the internet. Alice's customer service has been of no assistance at all. I read about others
having problems with the username and password from Alice (they did not provide this information to my GF).
The question is how to get past the username and password issue and if anyone is using a Mac with Alice?
Thanks!

Your username should be your phone number and your password is going to be one of your date of births i.e. 27071974

Hi,
Also having loads of problems getting my mac to connect to the router. (Siemens sl2-141-1)
Works fine using the Ethernet cable, using the MAC code thats printed on the bottom of the modem as your WEP password.
But having major difficulties configuring the Airport to talk to the router to get active WLAN.
Alice recommends configuring the Airport to connect to the router using PPPoE. (which is not possible unless using "Bridged" mode). Cant configure Bridged mode because my Mac cant talk to the router at all (entering 192.168.1.1 into the web browser) and therefore cant configure it. Without Bridged mode its telling me there is no PPPoE server active.
Without the airport configured to PPPoE there is full signal from the router - password enter correctly and Airport status is "connected to the internet". But there is still no connectivity in any internet application.
It seems load of people are having problems using Siemens routers with Mac Airports - i'm not sure how Alice / Siemens have made a normal simple procedure so complicated!
PC's are connecting fine!
Has anyone any solutions?
I'm not a Mac expert - so simple step by step guide would be appreciated ;-)
Cheers!

We have a similar problem with Alice / Siemens sl2-141-1.
Can connect to the net via ethernet no problem. Airport signal is full but cannot connect to the internet. It says 'airport is connected to the network via ALICE-LAN. Airport does not have an IP address & cannot connect to the Internet'
We also cannot connect to the modem on the IP address 192.168.1.1 by ethernet or via airport.
Any help is much appreciated..!

I am having the same problem here. I have moved into a WG that has Alice internet already set up and working fine on windows laptops.
I can connect my Mac up to the WLAN but I have no internet connection. I have tried connecting up directly using the ethernet cable but that fails too.
I am finding the whole thing very frustrating, especially since my Mac has given me almost no problems after making the big conversion a few months ago.
I hope someone has some good suggestions :-)
Thanks in advance
Steve

Just to clarify, I can connect via Ethernet on either laptop or desktop Mac & access Internet. I can also connect to the wireless network with laptop but cannot access Internet via wireless.
