just look up "Notar" in the yellow pages, give one near you a call and make an appointment. Alternatively, if you are member of a church, your priest is allowed to notarise documents.

this thread might help too: Notar / notaries / notary public

I highly doubt that anyone here will be able to answer your question. What did the Danish authorities say when you asked them what kind of certification they needed? i.e. a German or Danish Apostille?

It all depends on what documednt needs to have an Apostile - a govenment agency in the home country of the document needs to provide it, as the whole point of an apostile is that it shows that the issuing organisation (/signature of the person who signed it) is recognised by that national government.

The following document tells you where to go to get an Apostile for a Germany document "Deutsche öffentliche Urkunden zur Verwendung im Ausland".

For Botswana (and actually any country in general), try looking at the information here... "Hague Conference on Private International Law ", and look for the part per county that mentions "Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents "

I guess another option wold be to speak to your local embassy, as they should also know.
