Banking jobs in Frankfurt

Advice on finding work at a bank

I am British, I studied German at uni (speak it fluently) and then went on to become a chartered accountant. I worked in audit then moved to product control in a large American investment bank.

I am thinking of taking a year out from my current career and moving to Germany. I might start off in Berlin for a couple of months and then move to FFM, where I have some friends.

My questions are:
(1) How easy is it to find a banking related job in Frankfurt for a German-speaking British accountant. I currently work in product control for fixed income derivatives, but would consider any jobs in banking - client services, corporate actions, trade support, admin, documentation etc.
(2) How easy would it be to get an accounting job in a non-banking organisation. I have no knowledge of HGB. Previously I worked in audit, so would consider working for any audit firm based in FFM.

Thanks in advance to anyone who could help. I realise my query is quite specific to finance/banking so sorry to bore people with jargon etc.

Hi

There are some useful tips in the topic "International companies in Frankfurt".

I will be looking for something similar when I arrive in a fortnight, Good Luck in your search. If I hear anything I will let you know.

try the Bankpower agency at first, maybe they can get you 'in the door'

There are usually some roles floating around in Frankfurt but be warned, at least two or more banks are rumored to be considering a merger which will depress the permanent staff market.

A possibly better way to get started is to call yourself a business/process analyst with subject matter expertise on accounting and try for some contract jobs. This would at least get you through the door in some places. Mind you, I don't know how much German will help as we are still trying to German OTC confirmations out of one very large Frankfurt based bank (their system seems to have been done in the UK).

Hi everyone! Im a new zealander moving to frankfurt in october on a rugby contract so im sorted! However my girlfreind wants to come, her back ground is as a customer services representative in a New Zealand bank. she doesn't speak german. Could those in the know please tell me if she is likely to get a work permit with that sort of experience? She is prepared to do any sort of work but obtaining the right visa is number one priority!! Thanks for your anticipated help.
