Does anyone know when that new stadium thats being built out by the airport is going to open?

Ach, ja. It'll be (hopefully) ready in time for the first game of the World cup. I think its the Fifa selects versus the German national team. Check out the date yourself on the FIFA website...or look for allianz stadium in google.

EDIT: 190 days left...till it opens according to the website...

May 2005 I think

FC Bayern and 1860 Münch should be playing in it next season I believe. It isn't one of the stadiums being used for the World Cup warm up tournament in June 2005 (Confederations Cup)

The new stadium will be used for Bayern and 1860 from August 2005. The stadium will also host the opening game of the World Cup 2006, which I guess will be Germany (as hosts) against someone.

yes Germany will play in the first match (actually it is usually the holders that play in the first game but they changed the rule this time) which will follow on straight after the opening ceremony. The stadium will host 6 world cup games

my answer agrees with pepper actually. The stadium will actually open in May but obviously the season doesn't start until August so that is when FCB will start playing there. I guess they may have an inauguration match between the two Munich teams there perhaps?

@pepper. Nope. Definitely three different answers. One said May 2005, one said August and another June 2006. But I suppose the interpretation depends on how argumentative you want to be...

@boomtown rat. I thought they were going to host a few games of the Intercontinental Cup at the Allianz Arena?

@ Crawlie - OK two were similar, OK it will be finished around May 2005 (did not know that !), but for Bayern and 1860, it starts with the new season (August 2005).

Actually mine and peppers were the same i.e opens in May and season begins in August.


I thought so to originally but after the draw I saw it was Frankfurt, Nürnberg, Leipzig, Köln and Hannover
