I contacted Craig a few months ago after after being overweight and out of condition for a good number of years, straight away I was met with a very warm, friendly, enthusiastic and genuine manner not on only about what he does but also what he can do for you to improve your standard of health and fitness. I had previously been given alot of misinformation and had tried several times, and unsucessfully I might add to shed some pounds and get into shape. So after my initial consultation with Craig it was shown and explained to me how I could achieve the best results. I will be honest I was at this point still somewhat sceptical but decided to stick to the letter the information I was given and give it my all. The results were amazing after just one week, which gave me the drive and the power to carry on, of course all the time under Craigs supervision. After one week I dropped 4 kilos and after three weeks I had lost a total of 9 kilos in weight. I'm now a total of 15 kilos lighter in 2 months (and I still havent even done any exercise yet) and feel better than ever. We are now just starting to work on the fitness side of things so if you're looking for fitter healthier lifestyle with professional supervision then I can't recommend 3D PTS personal training highly enough. Cheers Craig

No excercise and you've lost 2 kg a week. That's some amount of fat you've burnt off. I guess you must be either eating and/or drinking a lot less. Be interesting to know what your calorie intake is now compared to before. Must be quite something if you're not burning anyting off by exercise. I'd always though it was better to change your diet gradually, thereby losing less fat slower so that there's less chance of falling off the wagon.

Dear Bilko,

I hope you don't mind me responding but I would like to personally answer your question (and perhaps Mr K will also add his 2 bob), as hopefully I can clarify the how's and why's. I will answer this in a general sense so as to not go into any personal details of clients and protect their privacy.

In my experience most people are overweight not due to eating too many calories in general but because of an unbalanced hormone system and excessive inflammation, though the cause is often eating the wrong foods too often plus stress from various other sources.

There is still a common belief that the only way to lose weight is by burning more calories than you consume - this is oversimplified and leads to people adding more stress to their bodies, resulting in further hormone imbalances and inflammation among other things - so overdoing exercise, particularly cardio, is not a good idea.

When a client comes to me they fill in a series of extensive questionnaires which cover a range of topics including eating habits, stress levels, sleep patterns and so on. From here I decide the best form of action, but basically the higher the stress, the less energy draining exercises I recommend at the start (at least until we balance hormone levels and reduce inflammation). Instead I ask clients to do more stretching (especially if they have postural issues that are causing injuries), and walking. Movement is vital for everyone but exercising incorrectly can contribute to weight gain.

While this forum isn’t the place to go into specific detail about the mode of action of hormones like insulin and leptin, these are two specific hormonal imbalances that we take into consideration when working with clients, both of which when corrected through changes in nutrition prove instrumental to achieving weight loss and optimum energy levels.

With regard to diet I recommend that my clients try to eat according to our elimination diet for a period of between 7 - 14 days. This however depends on the clients goals, and current circumstances. An elimination diet involves removing foods that have a high glycemic index to keep insulin levels low, and some others that cause intolerance like wheat and cow's milk.

These foods are often responsible for causing inflammation which results in the body storing an excessive amount of water to put out the fires so to speak. Once the inflammation decreases the body does not need to retain so much of that water and it is lost - I call this weight false fat because that bloated-ness, especially around the belly looks and feels like fat. .

I am not a fan of scales to be honest and my clients know that, clothes are much better judges of progress and when a client has a balanced hormone system then their energy levels also increase along with other health aspects, so we see the full spectrum of benefits as losing weight and being tired all day long due to not consuming enough food is not a solution. On that note I do not recommend counting calories, instead I simply ask clients to consume the foods I have recommended at least 4+ times per day - the more often the better.

Regarding exercise – don’t get me wrong, movement is vital especially for somebody seeking their optimal weight. But exercise needs to be correctly. My advice to anyone seeking weight loss is: if anyone tells you to ‘just run it off’ before an examination of other essential factors in your life has been undertaken, think twice and get a qualified opinion on the best way forward for your own circumstances.

I hope I have clarified some of your questions.

Kind regards

Craig

It s because of statements like this from people who really dont have any professional knowledge that added to all the confusion in the first place, hence I sought professional instruction from Craig at 3D PTS. When I say I have never felt fitter in my life, I mean it, and I think I should know!

I saw Mr K a couple of weeks ago for the first time in months and he looked way better than when I last saw him. This new regime has obviously done him the world of good, just a pity Matt is not on the east side of UK!!

I guess there's many different types of professional health instructors around and they all have their different methods. There's always some new method that some will claim to be the best, of getting fitter, or losing wait. At the end of the day, the basics of losing weight and getting fitter is not exactly rocket science. A lot of it is to do with willpower in keeping to your schedule, and if Craig is helping you, then that's great.

I am also training with Craig and I must say IT WORKS!! It is not a matter of killing yourself like joggin the whole day or so it is just a few exercises 2-3 times per week and more discipline in your food. Good quality food, but different from other diets, you can eat lots of things you would think are not allowed. I totally recommend him. I am still going eventhough all my jeans suit me again but just because I feel good with a healthier life!!

Hi. I just thought I'd add my voice to this forum by sharing my thoughts on Craig's service.

I contacted Craig late last year to get some help. I'd been trying to lose weight for several years, with mediocre results despite having a reasonable diet and exercising quite regularly.

Craig's approach was fantastic, and I could not recommend him highly enough to anyone who is at a stage where they want to improve their health in a way that really is sustainable, or is frustrated because they are trying to do this already with limited success.

The first step involved Craig taking the time to really get to understand my lifestyle, goals and current condition in a structured way before starting with any changes. He made a number of recommendations about changing the way I eat (how often and what types of foods) that are really not that difficult to follow. Sure, there are some foods that I no longer eat (all the time ), but there have been no real sacrifices and absolutely no need to ever feel hungry. Nutrition is something that we talk about regularly and any problems are easily overcome. The upshot: there are no fads or "diets" here, just simple, easy to follow and sustainable eating habits.

The exercise front was also an eye opener. Craig's understanding of body mechanics is fantastic. My exercise habits weren't bad – normally three sessions per week of around 40 minutes - but my efforts were misdirected. I work in an office so spend a lot of time at my desk, and had no idea how much damage not moving in the right way could do. Craig immediately got to work on fixing my body motion, especially flexibility and restoring functional muscles towards their proper state. After the fundamentals were on the right track we added exercise to increase my fitness levels and strength. The best part: most of this can be done at home with very limited equipment, so no more gym fees for me! And we regularly adjust the plan so there is no risk of boredom.

Don't get me wrong, there has been hard work and change involved here, and I had to be ready to make some fundamental changes to my diet. But the results have definitely been worth it. I've now lost 16 KG, am eating better than I have for a long time and have regained the body shape and fitness levels that I had a long time ago...
