I forgot to mention, if there is something I can contribute to this event that doesn't involve turning on my stove, please let me know.
Hi Lavender_Rain,
well if you want to support everyone who is making Chilis or Cookies that is also good. If you want to help out...we can definitely find something for you to do.
If you had anything else in mind...send me a message and we'll sort it out
I am looking forward ot this weekend...Anyone know any good religions that specialise in Sun Worship.?

I've only made 2 veggie chili's before now, the first one I hated, but it was pretty quickly devoured by my work colleagues. I tried another one at home with a different method, which was spicier although I cheated and used a beef stock cube on principle (something I wont do this weekend).
Anyways, to all the people not making chili this weekend. If you're worried your chili isnt great, dont be, its all just a bit of fun. If you're not entering at all, dont have breakfast, dont eat anything, you can eat all the chili you want at the cook off and you get cookies too! The best compliment you can give a chili cook is by sending them home with an empty pot.

I always thought there was a shortage of chili? Anyway, minibug 1 wants to be a judge. Where does he sign up? (and believe me, he won't vote for my chili out of principle

) No worries about spice with that kid - I was eating thai curry the whole pregnancy and the affinity for spicy food seems to have rubbed off.
Minibug 2 would kill to judge the cookies, but I would not recommend him - unless you want a little blonde equivilant of the tazmanian devil ripping through the beergarden

Hi DDBug,
the shortage of Chili was DEFINITELY not a problem last year...As for Judging, sadly we have our quota for this year. Maybe I should open up a list for next year. It will be the 10th Event, so deserves some extra special attention.

All we need is a small meadow, 5 dozen Trailer vans, $5000 sponsorship and a Chart topping Country Band or 2...

Combine it with the Southern State Fest!
That would really be cool!

Jul 29 2008, 2:23 pm
Yeah, apparently there were lots of tee-pees in the south
Seriously, that looks a lot more "western" than "southern" to me - or those areas have a lot more in common than I thought.

trappers and Indians start the day. But it seems more cowboy country than southern boy is all.

It fits the theme of chili and Texas is a southern state. I would camp out and cook chili for three days! Now just need to import a few longhorns.

**insert finger waving and pointing smiley here**Where is the Don? He's gotta come out and taste the sublime flavors and rich textures of some real chili! This ain't no Hormel's canned crap I am brewing up.
It is day 4 (by about 14 minutes) and the spices will get mixed in today. Prior to this, nothing but salt was used to pull the flavors out of the *** and the ###.
Can I bring some BBQ sauce to sell on the side? The stuff I have got is aged two years now.

There are some major chili experiments happening from TTr's. 4 that I know of. Good luck! You are going to need it. Eurovol would be # 4. I will be surprised if a TTr doesn't make podium.

Very Interesting that you suggest this as there will be 2 "official" Chili Cookoff BBQ Sauces available for a Donation to Charity. If you want to you can add yours as well.
All in a good cause... :-)
Of course this could lead to a BBQ Sauce contest being staged from now on..

Great time was had by all, as far as I could tell! Same guy who won last year won this year, a German named Jürgen. Second place went to -- BadDoggie! Third place was -- a fella with a kid, I don't know either of them, but I'm sure Loonyspook will be posting up here as soon as he's recovered from the lovely day.

OK ...A big hello from Chili Central..
and yes...the results are in...
Indeed as Gen so rightly said (and she foolishly volunteered to be a judge next year)
The same guy as last year won...and to add insult to injury he also ran off with Chefs Prize which means the jury weren't biased.
Well, I'm not sure I can deal with giving him the third time next year so all of you out there had better work on your game.
3Lions deserves a special mention as he catered to the Vegetarian class...and who out there who tasted it realised it was..??
Maybe next year we should open up a class of their own.
There were some suprises...and the runner up was a very fair contestant...a big round of applause to Bad Doggie.
In 3rd Place was Brian Hooser, an absolutley fantastic competitor who year after year made his mark and finally got to the top 3.
What can I say. I would like to personally thank each and every one of you who came along and made the event something special.
As long as everyone who came along had fun, then THAT is what this is all about.
We had our event, the Klinik Clowns once again received a little something, and I can relax for anothe 8 months before it all starts again.
God Bless and keep on cooking.
