Scenic places to visit with a family

Suggested destinations for day trips

Can anyone suggest some nice, scenic places to visit? The other posts on this topic seem to be very much beer related. If there is a place to refuel then that's a benefit, but not the aim of our family day trip.

Am somewhat surprised at the question given that you appear to have been here for over two years already.

Do you have a car or would you and the family be relying on public transport?

Have you been to Neuschwanstein, the Partnach-Klamm by Garmisch, Königsee, etc? There are loads of suggestions for day-trips to be found by using the search function. For example...

Day trips to Austria from Munich
Day trips to the Garmisch area
Day trips from Munich
Family day trips to the mountains south of Munich
Days out from Munich with the children
Cheimsee and the Herrenchiemsee palace
Partnachklamm - a gorge near Munich

Whats this " search function" ye speak of??

And How will I recognise you?? ph34r.gif

Almost 3 years actually.
Did you want a point by point detailed description of the reasons behind my question? Or are you happy to accept that there are just reasons?

Thanks for the links.

Keep your knickerbockers on. If you ask a question which has been asked and answered many times before and you are a user who appears to have been around for quite some time then you have to accept that you may be called out on it.

smile.gif - Like i said, I did search.

I didn't mean it to come across shirty, but it was just much quicker to ask my question rather than give you all my reasons behind why we have lived here so long and now decide to ask.

The main reason being, previous trips out were with the constant stream of alcoholic visitors we have. So being booze related wasn't an issue. There are plenty more reasons - but i won't bore you.

Don_Riina is always vocal on the subject of the local scenary. Have you tried PMing him? If memory serves me correctly, he also has opinions on cycling, and to a lesser extent, skiing.

Hope that helps smile.gif

Here's a tip - I was there a couple of weeks ago and it is a really great day out.

Hi there--I think a bit more details about what you are looking for would also help. Walks that you can do with a baby carriage? places where you can sit and enjoy nature? My husband and children really like visiting Sylvensteinsee just south of Lenggries. There is a tiny town called Fall, and then you drive off the road to the right and there is an area right by the water with places you can grill or take a walk around the lake. Close by is a hotel that does a lot of conferences and such -- we found this spot because my hubby went to a course there for work -- its called the Jäger von Fall and has a nice beergarden area with a small playground. i think the food may be pricey but its nice for coffee and cake in the afternoon. There are also some beautiful spots on Walchensee with places where there is an easy, smooth path suitable for a baby buggy. Two friends of mine swear by Schliersee, you can take the BOB there and apparently there is a playground right near the lake (never been there myself). If you can read German, there are several books to check out. I recommend:
Die schönsten Familienausflüge im Alpenvorland (we have a different edition but I assume its basically the same content)
Wanderungen mit Kinderwagen zwischen Füssen und Tegernsee
But there are others in this vein...also depends on whether or not you have a car, how far you want to drive, etc.

Have fun!
