No food, no videos, and no laundry

Yep, Sundays in Germany are quite different than Sunday in the States. When I lived in the States I would party on Friday and Saturday and then shop on Sunday. At first, not being able to shop on Sunday in Germany was difficult for me to adjust to.

Now after eleven years I welcome Sundays with no shopping because it's more peaceful in the town and I find other things to do with my time to take care of myself that are more productive than shopping.

As someone who has lived in Germany since the late 80s, believe me when I tell you I was extatic when the shops starting opening until a decent time on saturdays . All that jumping out of bed in a panic at 11:30 with a horrific hangover just so you dont starve at the weekend gets very old very soon. I can live without sundays.

I've been here for only 7.5 years but I am with you. I remember the old days when supermarkets closed at 2 pm on Saturdays and I woke up at 1:00 pm in panic and ran to the Supermarket looking like The Dude (Big Lebowski)

Is today Sunday?
