Failed delivery from Amazon.de

Help understanding the e-mail

Hello,

I ordered a few dvd's from Amazon.de, but thanks to me being an idiot I wrote my name down instead of the person who owns this flat, so Deutsche Post attempted to deliver it but failed to and went back with the shipment. Now I got this e-mail from Amazon and I tried to use free translator but it's not making much sense, has this happened to anyone else or perhaps could you help me understand the following e-mail? I think they are saying that even if I want the shipment I have to re-order it, and I have to pay the postage or something, but I checked my online credit card statement and my money (less postage fee) was not refunded... not sure what is going on.

Your delivery was returned as undeliverable. These are the most frequent reasons for such returns.
We have cancelled the order. If you have not requested a replacement delivery you will be reimbursed.
If you have been invoiced we will reimburse the postage costs or offset them against future invoices. If not we will reimburse all payments to your known bank account. If we do not have your account you will receive an e-mail requesting your bank details in order to reimburse you. If you have not yet paid the invoice it becomes obsolete when the return is effected.
When the reimbursement has been effected you will receive a confirmation e-mail.

In your case I recommend requesting a replacement delivery to the correct address.

but i am not sure how i can ask them to re-send the shipment - at the end of that email reads:

"(Dies ist eine automatisch versendete Nachricht. Bitte antworten Sie nicht auf dieses Schreiben, da die Adresse nur zur Versendung von E-Mails eingerichtet ist.)"

so I don't know where/who to ask.. and if I want this back do I have to pay for shipping?

Contact them via the button (lower right) that says Kontaktieren Sie uns, log in, choose e-mail or telephone in the box. I am sure you will find someone who will help you in English.
Judging by the e-mail you quoted you will be reimbursed for any postage you have already paid.

Hi there,

I had the exact same problem. Usually my parcels are picked up by someone else in the building but on the day no one was around so the parcel was sent to the post office and I was unable to fetch it on time. In any case, the whole order is cancelled and you have to restart the ordering process - so go back to the site and order the item as if you had not ordered before. In my case, the cheaper version was gone so I had to pay a little more for another.

You aren't going to get it back.
The delivery has been returned and re-booked back into their system and your money refunded.
I guess you paid by credit card?
You'll need to re-order.

I hate haviing returns in the business I work in, but for Amazon it#s easier for them to handle en masse this way as opposed to keep trying to deliver.

I would recommend to you to get a DHL packstation card for ALL packages that you have delivered to you in Germany. First, its free, just sign up at

and fill out the ANMELDEN

They will send you a card in the mail and a pin number. Then you can pick up your package 24x7 at the post office in one of those post boxes for self pick up. Then when you have a package they send you an SMS and an email letting you know you have to go pick it up. You can also set the language to English- meaning less problems.

As you know, the Post here SUCKS with their openning times and customer service. This will save you time from having packages sent back to the the sender and/or having to go into the post to pick something up. This will also resolve your problem of your name not being on the mail box...

Hope this helps, it has been a life saver for me.

Amazon UK/DE deliver all packages to my nearest Packstation. So simple.
I wish all companies would use DHL.
