OK, here's my predicament: about 30 years ago, when I first came to Germany, I had a dental bridge stuck into my mouth. Seven teeth, glued to four front teeth which are whittled down to stubs. Literally, stuck tight; I have not had any problems for the past 30 years.
Two months ago I went to my German dentist who took an X-ray and noticed that one of the whittled down teeth is dead. She said the whole bridge needs replacing. That will cost a couple thousand in Germany no doubt. I am only covered for 70% in Germany, which I get as Beihilfe. I don't have a price estimate yet, but I'm betting I might have to pay about 2000 Euros, which I don't have.
I returned to the UK (where I now live, been here eight years) and investigated the NHS. Turns out I would only have to pay only £195 for NHS treatment. I did not tell the dentist here about the dead tooth; the dentist here took an x ray and I assumed she'd notice it. She didn't. She filled a cavity and that was it. I did not speak up.
SO, how good can the NHS treatment be, if she did not notice?
I am going to India for two months; I've heard that you can get good dental treatment in India. Any experience here? Any advice?
