Hi,
My wife and I are in the process of investigating/planning to immigrate to Germany with out two young sons. I have a German passport and my wife has a South African passport. As my inlaws are South African and an integral part of our lives my wife is adamant that we need to investigate whether it is possible for them to immigrate with us. Would there be any special provisions that are applied to this senario or do they simply apply for a normal residents permit.
We have visited the local German Consulate but they were not able to provide much help. They did however confirm that a family with identical circumstances to ours had recently managed to get their inlaws to immigrate with them to Germany. If anyone has been through the process I would really appreciate your input and guidance. I'm guessing the two most important things would be whether the Inlaws are able to support themselves and can they afford the cost of Private Healthcare in Germany. How do they assess whether they can support themselves? If they have €300,000 in the bank, would this be enough proof that they can support themselves? Would I be able to sponsor them and confirm that we would assist them? What is the likely cost of Health Insurance? Would €500 per month be too low?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
