what time will we be wrapping up?
yotti
Jun 14 2008, 2:51 pm
Usually around 6 -7 pm, earlier if people wish. We can always "drop off" as boredom / cold / fatigue / sunburn etc dictates.

Hey all, I really hate doing this last minute, but I have to cancel . . . My stepdaughter's mother is pitching a fit (don't know why because she's been on a small boat in Greece), so we won't be able to make it after all.
Maybe my husband and I can go next weekend . . . Again, so very sorry.

I'll start a list again tomorrow for Sunday. Note the weather looks good, so we will need to book boats early, so be as accurate as pos for attendence please.
And Sunday was good for beginners, light winds, but a little cooller than we would liked !

Any feedback from the participants?

Travel plans:
there is a train that leaves
Hauptbahnhof 12:51, change at Geltendorf and get in to Utting (Ammersee) at 13:40.
Travel by own transport. Meet up at the pier for Ernst segelschule at 13:45
Boat detailsNo specialist equipment is needed. Suncream, soft soled trainers so you don't slip, a light waterproof jacket in case it rains and perhaps a jumper in case the weather looks changeable or cloudy. We can take bags onto the boat, so changing clothes or carrying drinks should not be a problem.
Costs are for just the boat hire @ € 15 per hour split between us. They can take up to 8 people, kids are welcome.
Maybe we meet up before the time to sail for a picnic lunch and give you the chance to ask more questions.
Please confirm by Friday evening, as I have to reserve the boats. If travelling by train, it pays to get together as a group to take advantage of the day tickets.
I will have my handy with me, and will pm you the number in case of emergencies !
Skill / confidence as: none / novice / comp crew / mate / skipper (Note: skipper means you may be required to be the skipper of a boat as well !)
Booking sheet starts as:
Name | skill / confidence | guests | guest skill / confidence

I'm planning a hangover for that day.
But I might be interested at some point in the summer if you are up for having kids along, depending on the child-friendliness of the crowd, of course.

EDIT - if there's one on the following weekend (28/29) then I'm probably in for sure.

I'd love to come too. Trouble is hubby is away so is my son so I am on my own with my 6 year old. Would that be OK?
We are good passengers but not experienced sailors...and live around the corner so to speak so it would be ideal.
Weather expected to be up to 30°C . Can't wait.

englishrose: It will not be a problem for us, the more the merrier !!!

That's the corn field maze, different one every year usually!
OK, the chances of me being there on Sunday are pretty good now, weather wise is another matter.
Kids, in every form are more than welcome, enjoyed my last trip when I showed a kid how to sail. Get them started young!
So bring them all along.

Edit, fresh air best thing for a hangover, by the way!

Update: We have only been able to reserve one boat from 4pm. But we will be there from 12:30 for a picnic, and take our chances on a cancellation.
Moral, we need to either commit to a regular booking or book earlier in the week. Alternatively sail in the mornings before the crowd.

How did it go
last week? Would be interesting to hear some follow-up on the trip...did you manage to sort out the boat situation in the end?
