Live Irish music - Munich

A German friend of mine (Irish fan) would like to know where to find typical live Irish music in Munich. Any ideas? Thanx.

The shamrock has live music every night not necessarily Orish though.

Kilians normally have some sort of musik at the weekend too.

Kilian's have an open "Irish" jam session on Monday nights. Good Stuff!

Update: The Kilians jam session has moved to the Shamrock since January 2006. Still Mondays and mostly the same players.

Is the dancing also at Shamrock? First Monday of the month, was it?

Yes indeed, the first Monday of the month. The Munich Céilí Band and Irish dancing. It's actually crusoe's band. I play in it myself. Come down!

Btw, There is a huge difference between Irish Music and Irish Pub Music. The pubs rarely have Irish Music, they cater for the tourists and the wannabe's; the cloth cap/aran sweater brigade. Check out the Irish Folk Club Munich for Irish Music.

Just a reminder that we are still playing Mondays at the Shamrock. Last night we had: Guitarsx3, violin, mandolin, Bouzouki, double bass, northumberland pipes, flute & whistles, bodhran & bones...

If you are into Irish music and can sing or play just show up, all are welcome from about 21:00. Its not always Irish tunes/songs but mostly has an Irish slant to it.
