Experiences working for Nike

Is this company a good employer?

Whats it like working for an American corporation? Are they as cool as they proclaim?
DrivinWest
I'm sure they're all different. I've heard great things about working for Nike in Oregon, however. Is that where the position is or is it something local?

Depends - are you 12 years old and living in Bangladesh?
Conquistador
I doubt a 12 year old works for Nike anywhere.
Crawlie
Nope. Nike's business model is to outsource all production to enable them to move it around and get the best possible prices out there. They do not own one single Nike-owned production facility as far as I am aware.

Nike was thought up in Eugene you know? About the only thing of any interest that ever happened here. Ever

Don't bother. He's Spanish - remember Manuel in Fawlty Towers? That's what you're up against.

The only one owned outright by Nike is the R&D one which also creates the bespoke shoes and equipment for elite sports people. Exactly the same as their competitor (the one with the stripes) has.

While I've never worked for Nike, the place probably isn't for you if you're not that into sports, as in such companies, ahem, sport is the reason you're there, it is the social glue and also the key to internal networking really, so if you're not into it, you could feel a bit side-lined. Be also a waste of their fine staff facilities (no doubt you'll either have a staff gym or discount schemes).

Just a hunch there, garibaldi, but I doubt that your ancestors, say circa 1900, viewed themselves as Englishmen. wink.gif

I have met 2 contractors who worked with Nike in Germany and they both really enjoyed working for them. Office environment is supposed to the along the 'just do it' philosophy.
