For the last 2 weeks, i've been a rheumy eyed snotty mess, constantly sneezing, unable to string a coherent sentence together. Is anyone else finding their hayfever to be unusually bad this year?
Does anyone have any recommendations for pills/remedies, natural or otherwise?

My hayfever has been really bad this year as well. I bought some eye drops from my local Apotheke (in a purple box and name starts with a V) they were pricey but he said they work and actually have been great. Also, I take cetirizine daily, wear huge sunglasses almost all the time I'm outside and eat local honey a few times a week. It seems to be helping...
One Cetirizin HEXAL tablet each morning generally keeps it under control (no side-effects generally).
Eye drops if it really gets bad: such as Livocab. Ask yr friendly Apotheke.

Hubby's symptoms have been the worst this year as well. He uses eye drops and over-the-counter pills which aren't working very well. I've begged him to call the doc and get 'real' medicine before I smack him...he's been a grouch.

I am in hell, and have been for weeks. These are the worst allergies of my life. I thought I turned the corner but today it's back to, as you put it perfectly, FC, a snotty mess. I can't even think straight.
I'm taking Lorano, which does as much as allow me to not lie when I say, "I'm taking Lorano." It doesn't do anything else. My eye drops are Allergodil, and they are about half-effective. I can't wait for winter.

Not only Berlin but in Munich too!!

Am also currently doing an
immune therapy * against grass pollen and Lorano works fine for me
*
Hyposensibilisierung or
Desensibilisierung talk to your doctor about that. You get weekly shots of whatever youre allergic to (usually off season) with the hopes that in 2-3 years your allergy free. People with hay fever may also get asthma later

. So don't wait.

For the longest time I was convinced I had the worst hayfever and allergies of anyone around. There was no cure or medicine that made a difference for me.
However,
I found some little at home tricks on the internet that seemed to have helped me a lot.
Someone called it the "cold water treatment"... basically you take a bowl of ice water and submerge the tip of your nose and your nostrils (in a way that you don't get that stinging water-up-nose feeling of course) and you keep it that way as long as you can stand it. The water sort of cleans particles and things out of there and it slows down the circulation and things, and ultimately reduces the amount of itchyness and discomfort temporarily. This in turn helps with the eyes a bit and stuff as some of the watery eyedness comes from the discomfort in the nose.
I'm often doing a lazy version of this where I cup my hands and put tap water as cold as I can get it into them.
It all sounds kinda silly but try it a few times. It does take the edge of a tiny bit.

My wife and I have never suffered as bad as this spring. I also don't remember there being as much pollen in the air as this year for such a long time. I thought it was just us...guess not.
Hopefully the rain expected this Thursday will wash some of it out of the air.

I was talked into going to the doctor for what I thought was going to be a quick "here is some medicine" job... No No... I have been for x-rays, CT scans, to the Nose, Throat, and Ear doctor 3 times and still I wait for my reply. A lot of people (myself included) seem to be referred for an operation and to be fair I will be looking for other opinions before I venture down this road... I bought a "Nasenduche" at the weekend and it seems to help a little bit... Also Sinupret does help (more than Lorano)
Up until now I have found by far the best thing I have taken was over the counter "Wicks Sinex Spray". :-)

After suffering hay fever for most of my life and going from one useless doctor to another, I finally went to a local ear-nose-and-throat doctor this season. There I went under a whole battery of tests, got given some medication that I'd never seen before, and now I feel better than I have in years. No operation, just finally the right treatment.
Now why didn't I do that earlier, instead of going to heaps of GPs and just trying any old crap at the pharmacy

It was absolutely terrible, but then I got my medication. I´m basically just on some anti-histamine eyedrops and nose spray. It seems to work.
Any loratadine pills also should do a decent job.

you should try a netty pot. cleans out the sinus hives up in your foreheads.

i had the flu last month for 10 days, which seemed like an eternity. i just used whatever nasal spray (i was a snotty mess too!) the apotheke gave me, tylenol and sudafed that i brought here from the states. paracetamol at night to make me sleepy.

have you tried an apotheke? that's really the only place i can think of that would have one...altho i don't know how it's translated in german (i personally would go in the apotheke, publicy declare my severe lack of german language skills and then politely show them the picture and ask if they have it.)

Similar to the neti pot is a Nasendusche.
http://nasendusche.info/http://www.emser.de/seiten/produkte/emser_...kte_index2.htmlYou should be able to find them at an Apotheke.
I have year-round allergies, so I use Fluticason year-round. During the hayfever season (now!) I use loratadin as well.
The cheapest loratadin and ceratizin preparations in Germany are made by KSK Pharma. You should be able to get them at your local pharmacy (even if they have to order it), or you can look for it online.
