try doing what they do in the UK - let people start a tab by placing their credit card behind the bar. Of course the only trouble with that is that not many people here have credit cards...

A driver's license or some form of picture ID would work as well.

The problem isn't so much individuals not paying for drinks, more that if you have a couple of tables of 10 people each and they keep moving around, keeping track of who had what - and importantly, expecting peole to remember what they had. Often people lose track of the number of beers and then forget about the small chips they also had. Also, I don't imagine that a German couple who have just come in for the first time would be too happy to hand over their credit card or license...

As far as music goes. We'll have a look at the quality, but we can't have it too loud anyway, because then the neighbours start to complain.

i don't mind paying up front or trading rounds with the people I am sitting with. Isn't that how the bloody english do it anyway?

Yes, and not only the bloody ones. The system works, nobody loses out or forgets.

Assuming everyone's drinking the same stuff at the same speed, which rarely happens. Even in the UK, I'd only usually do rounds if with one or two other people, and probably only one round each.

Another point about buying individually is tipping. The Augustiner cost 2.90, but giving 3.00 always seems a bit stingy, 3.50 is too much, and anything in between would make me feel silly. It's alright if I have a tab, because then the total is high enough that I can give around 10%.

I am thinking about checking out the bar for the first time tonight. I like the idea of wireless internet. I will donate a wireless AP for this and also setup the neccessary security. All the pub would need to do is order a DSL line.

I work for a wireless internet company.

I love the corndogs, but you need proper mustard and then deliver.
There has got to be a NCAA football bowl game day blowout!

Wireless APs are virtually free from any reputable company, as for the security, who the hell will hi-jack a basement wireless system...?

As for the sound system, Quality speaker are a myth for pub sound systems. the thing you should do is put about 12-16 speakers in there.

The closer you are to a speaker, the quieter it needs to be to hear it.. Back in Blighty I used to install background and fore ground music systems..

Nice place, Keep up the hard work..

Last night was only my 3rd time in the Arc.I must say the 45 minutes wait for my food after I ordered it was a bit much. The chicken wrap was nice though.

you know what would be great if you had some snacks for the late comers. E.g. just some Pizzy in the Microwave or sandwiches. Serve food till whatever 11 or 12 and then only microwave food.
So ppl can drink more cause they have something in their stomach.
I was starving on Saturday night but it was still a great one! Although u ran out of Jägermeister!

Went along in the end last night. The chicken Wrap goes up there alongside kilians - 'Pound of Meat Pizza' and GM's 'Special Burger/Fillet Steak' as my favourite pub meals.

And only 5€!! Just one thing, it's a bit of a swine to cut on a paper plate, might be best on a proper one.
