Short-term accommodation in Düsseldorf

Residences and other alternatives to a hotel

Hi everybody,
I'll start a new job in Düsseldorf on July 1st and I'm looking for temporary accommodation, waiting for the new home to be ready (on August 1st, very likely).

Staying in a hotel for 1 whole month would be very expensive. Moreover, I'd like to acquire the German residence as soon as possible, in order to speed up bureaucratic issues, and I don't think I can be "resident" in a hotel.

In Italy there are "residences", which usually offer small apartments on a weekly or monthly basis, usually cheaper than hotels, but I cannot find anything similar in Germany - maybe I'm looking for the wrong keywords. I also tried to look at "mietwohnung" ads, but they usually offer unfurnished and/or long-term rentals.

So here's my question: where can I find a *furnished* apartment for rent for just *one month* in NRW?

Thank you VERY much!

Try http://www.e-rent.de/GEFSmrl.asp?Stadt=Due...amp;Language=En who do one month lets and have a reasonable selection.

http://duesseldorf.homecompany.de/ is another place to check with.

Thank you!
I knew e-rent (it pops out from virtually any Google search for apartments in Düsseldorf), but I had never heard about the "Home Company".

Anybody knows about only-German websites for short rentals?
I suppose they are more difficult to find with any Google search I can do in English or in my very low-level German.

? I'm not sure what you mean.

zwischenmiete.de, wg-gesucht.de, and quoka.de are also good places to look.

Thank you! That's exactly what I meant - websites only in German language. Maybe the best bargains are in these websites, not accessible to tourists ;-)

e-rent and HomeCompany are agencies specialize in short-term furnished housing. The other sites are person-to-person listings, so if you luck out, you might get a good deal. The agencies have the advantage of being more set up for people in your situation.

If your spoken German is ok, try the Easy Living Schaper Apartments via +49 211 86 22 11 00

Happy ending: I found the apartment on www.zeitwohnwerk.de.
Anyway, thank you all for the suggestions! They seem valuable and maybe I'll need them sooner or later...
