ok, so i'm already registered as self employed at the local 'rathaus'.. have the steuer nummer und alles...
im registred as a consultant ( providing aircraft documentation services).. Now the thing is that i also want to work from home as a small scale trader ( actually its more like a broker) and dont know if im legally permitted to do so? do brokers need to open a GMBH in deutschland? or can i as a self employed person also work as a broker?
Also can a self employed person ( a freelancer, broker, etc...without a GMBH) have a website? coz actually i already have one but the laws in germany are kindda strict and i want to be positive that im not doing anything illegal and then end up paying tons of $$$$$$!
so i would really appreciate everyones advice.

Best thing might be to call your local IHK (Industrie und Handelskammer) - they will be able to answer this sort of thing.

haha..no no...hot tips are just that.."hot" which means they can't just be freely sent around

but...in a nutshell...I know they have mispriced stock and if they part wth it without realising then you could be onto a winner.
I also know another small time parts trader who used to be the IT director at Aero Inventory.
Final thing is if you have any contacts in the Trace Certifying space as they've got a load of duff stuff from Garuda and others that would be worth a fortune with trace sufficient for the big airlines.

If your trading activities are correctly listed on your Gewerbeanmeldung then it will be passed to any relevant controlling authorities for that area of work. They will normally contact you directly to check you are suitably qualified or licensed (should a license be necessary) to pursue that particular trade.

What exactly do you mean by "broker"?
I know plenty of self-employed people that day trade etc to (attempt to) supplement their paid work income. Straightforward share / option trading is no problem.

You need a Gewerbeschein which details what you do.
There are around 20 types of Company in Germany.
Basically you can always be a sole trader - but there can be drawbacks.
Use a Steuerberater. It is possible to run a UK Limited Co. in Germany
(I did once). It only costs a few hundred GBP to set up and it provides
limited liability in case your enterprise goes belly-up.
Germans are suspicious of people trading as UK Ltd's.
It cost EUR 25,000 to set up a GmbH, so a Ltd. Co.
is a very cost effective alternative.
